Sara Errani -- Not Working With Lance Armstrong's Doctor

Sara Errani is having the best year of her tennis career. And the Italian has now announced that she will not be working in the future with Luis Garcia del Moral, a former member of Lance Armstrong's medical staff.

Del Moral also worked with some tennis players.

"Now, his name is not a good name,"…

With Sam Stosur, expect the unexpected

Don’t let that Aussie “aw shucks” demeanor fool you, or the placid body language hidden by her signature Oakleys as she goes about her business in a workmanlike manner around the court. She does not “Pojd” like Petra Kvitova, roar like Serena Williams, or throw in full-body fistpumps like Ana Ivanovic. She does not slam her racket a la Victoria Azarenka or negatively stalk the court like Agnieszka Radwanska or Angelique Kerber. Yes, Stosur may be the most even-keeled woman on the WTA Tour.…

Roger Federer: Raking it in!

Total prize money at this year’s U.S. Open will be a record $25.5 million with the men’s and women’s champions collecting $1.9 million apiece. But the real action is off the court, where elite tennis players jockey for multimillion dollar endorsement deals and lucrative exhibition fees.

Younger rivals Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray have challenged…

Novak Djokovic: Why the Reigning US Open Champion Will Win in Flushing Again

Perhaps he’s not yet forced Roger Federer to abdicate his throne as the king of the hard courts, but Novak Djokovic is certainly capable—and worthy—of wearing the crown. He will prove that once again when he wins his second major of the year—and second consecutive US Open.

It’s fair to point to Djokovic’s struggles in 2012—he lost in the semifinals at Wimbledon, he failed to…

What To Make of Andy Murray’s Olympic Gold?

Previously posted on Drop Shot Dispatch

Conventional wisdom has often suggested that Andy Murray’s game doesn’t translate well enough to best-of-five matches for him to win a Slam.

Indeed, Murray has won eight best-of-three Masters 1000 events with draws just as difficult as he faces at Slams, but has won just one paltry set in his four Grand Slam finals.

But at the…

Balance on your groundstrokes: How much leaning can be done backwards or forwards? Should you be mostly level?

Whether you have a predominantly level base swivel, such as the Djokovic backhand above, or the more forward leaning forehand of Federer, in tennis, balance is key. Knowing where your balance is at the point of contact can be difference between a wildly spraying shot and a solidly struck screamer down the line.

Look at how level Djokovic's right thigh…

The Advanced Forehand: Is your forehand more of a "driver" or more of a "hook" shot?

I was out practicing with a friend who plays 4.5 and open tournaments and leagues. I hadn't seen him in 8 months, and he had told me he had changed his forehand drastically. Originally, he had a Berasetegui type Extreme Western forehand grip, which would produced gobs of spin, but would not drive through the court much. He would wail upwards on the ball and…

Two-racket Tennis "The Full-Body Workout"

Hello, I’m Prof. Don R. Mueller (aka the "Two Racket Guy"). I play an exciting form of tennis called Two-Racket Tennis. The two-racket game, unlike its one-racket counterpart, is truly a full-body workout as both sides of the body are utilized in a balanced way to play the game.
