Djokovic vs. Dmitrov: I am going with Djokovic's ability to be consistent, his strong return, his solid backhand, his angling forehand. I think it will exceed Dmitrov's weapons quite easily.Federer vs. Raonic: As much as love Raonic's serve and I…Continue

Massive Tennis Serve

"Well I remember commenting on your trophy pic that your serve looks Sampras like. But you rock from front to back to front. He is more hunched at the beginning and alot more on his back leg bend at first. Either one is effective of course."

Why do the two high amplitude forehands (Nadal and Djokovic) dominate the ATP tour?

Posted on June 16, 2014 at 11:30pm 6 Comments

Looking at the current world rankings, Nadal is 12500 pts, Djokovic is at 12330. Then there is a precipitous drop in points, with Wawrinka at 5525, Federer at 4945. Why would there be such a drop? I attribute this to the simple fact the prior two have more topspin and sidespin on their…

Federer practicing with a bigger racquet in Hamburg. Will the racquet bring him back to the forefront?

Roger Federer met the press Monday in Hamburg and the Swiss star revealed that he made the decision to play the event the day after his shock second round loss to Sergiy Stakhovsky at Wimbledon.

Hi Tim, thank you for the consideration - the OC is quite a large area (3 million people & a large square mileage) and based on the mountainous geography & travel limitations to/from the beach cities, they are not a probable, regular playing area for people in Irvine - and there are a wealth of quality courts (private & public) and avid players in the Irvine area.

As for the South Coast Metro group - maybe it was the indiscriminate name or lack of specifying Irvine, but its been nearly 2 years since there was any activity in that group, which to date has only 2 members. So I doubt that group will actually serve the needs of our area.

Of course, I cannot say how quickly the Irvine Group will grow, but the Hollywood / LA Group I started several years ago when I lived there is one of the top 10 largest on this site and like there, I definitely feel there is a need here, in this community, even if you just understand the urban planning and layout of this city - its quite unlike others.

This would be a great way to help connect players of the various ethnicities & cultures of our area through the game of tennis. I feel it would be unwise not to allow the chance.

Again, I appreciate the consideration.

With Gratitude,

Greg

Thanks for the compliment Tim.  Since joining Tennisopolis, I have always found your comments to be level-headed and sincere.  I am preparing for "Old man/new racket vs young man/ wood racket 2013" by doing more weight training than I have ever done before.  I think it will be the difference between losing in 2012 and winning in 2013.
