Delaware native is one of six winners

Delaware native Madison Brengle was one of six qualifiers to win a main draw match this week at WTA Tour and ATP World Tour tournaments. Brengle, ranked 222nd and from Dover, Delaware beat Melinda Czink 7-6(5), 7-5 in the first round at the Citi Openin College Park, Maryland.

Mardy Fish, Gilles Simon, and Vera Zvonareva win titles

Mardy Fish, Gilles Simon, and Vera Zvonareva were all victorious on Sunday. Fish and Zvonareva took home hard court trophies and Simon won on the red clay of Hamburg, Germany. The Atlanta Tennis Championship victory by Mardy Fish marks the first time in his career that he successfully defended an ATP World Tour title. Citi Open (Washington, D.C.) Tournament Preview

This Week in Tennis will be covering the majority of main draw matches at the Citi Open event next week in College Park, Maryland. You may have also heard the tournament referred to as being in Washington, D.C area. This week marks the start of the Olympus US Open Series as first round matches start in Atlanta, Georgia at the Atlantic Tennis Championships on July 18th. John Isner breaks "Casino Curse" at Newport, Rhode Island



American John Isner broke the 34 year old “Casino Curse” by winning the Campbell’s Hall of Fame Championships title at Newport, Rhode Island in a straight set victory against Olivier Rochus 6-3, 7-6(6).
