American John Isner broke the 34 year old “Casino Curse” by winning the Campbell’s Hall of Fame Championships title at Newport, Rhode Island in a straight set victory against Olivier Rochus 6-3, 7-6(6). The “Casino Curse” extended back to 1976 and was a curse on all number one seeds. Vijay Amritraj was the last number one seed to win the grass court event at Newport. The big-serving John Isner now has two ATP World Tour singles titles, with his first occurring in Auckland, New Zealand in 2010.
