US Open increases prize money by one million dollars

US Open prize money has reached record totals with an increase of one million dollars in 2011. The additional prize money makes the total purse, $23.7 million dollars and for the 39th straight year, the United States Tennis Association will offer equal prize money to both men and women. Additionally, the top three men and women finishers in the Olympus US Open Series could earn up to $2.6 million extra dollars in prize money at the US Open this year. In order to qualify for bonus prize money at the US Open, players must earn points in at least two Olympus US Open Series events.

The 2011 US Open singles champions will earn a record $1.8 million dollars and have the ability to bring in an extra $1 million in bonus prize money based on their Olympus US Open Series results.

  • Legg Mason Tennis Classic (Washington, D.C.) - August 1-7
  • Rogers Cup (Women) (Toronto, Canada) - August 8-14
  • Rogers Cup (Men) (Montreal, Canada) - August 8-14
  • Western & Southern Open (Cincinnati, Ohio) - August 15-21
  • Winston-Salem Open (Winston-Salem, North Carolina) - August 21-27
  • New Haven Open at Yale (New Haven, Connecticut) - August 21-27
  • US Open (New York City) - August 29-September 11
