What can you do in one minute to improve your tennis game? Depending on what's happening on your court, here are a few things that might turn things around for you during a match that take less than a minute to do.
1. Are you losing? Take a minute to get more aggressive. It never pays off to get less aggressive. If you're losing, you've probably…

Looking for a guy or girl to hit with. My closest courts are David Lam, False Creek, Kits, Stanley Park. I'm about a 4.0-4.5 and am up for a game just about any time.

Last night, I had a "blind tennis date" with an awesome gal I found on Craigslist. We had a good time - warmed up for about 40 minutes then played two sets. I did pretty good at 6-0 and 6-3, which gives me a boost of confidence going into my league next week.
What was different about playing those two sets compared to my last league match over a month ago? It was one thing - my serve. After my coaching lesson and some great tips from my husband, I finally got my serve pretty…

Hello all! I live in Largo, FL and am wanting to get back into the "swing of things" (Tennis of course). It's been a long time since I played regularly and miss it. I want to start playing weekly. Need to find someone who is either a newer player or coming back into the sport. I play softball weekly and enjoy it but tennis is much more physical and I want that. I am not in top shape but can keep up. I would prefer to play in the evenings during the week (Mon, Tues, Thurs). I am okay with some…

I was a good player 20 years ago...LOL and 100 lbs. ago. Need to get back into shape and remember the game. I was varsity tennis at Marysville-Pilchuck and played TONS at the UW Nordstrom courts. Guys, call me at 425-350-0370 for hitting partners in the Everett area.

All I can say is was I right or was I right? Roger Federer just made history by winning the French Open as I knew he would. He played superbly - served well and Soderling did not have the game he used against Nadal. I was surprised by how well he spoke at the trophy ceremony because I have heard a lot of negative things about Soderling in that he does not have a lot of friends on the tour and that he isn't the nicest guy. However I felt he was very gracious in defeat and displayed a great…

Less than an hour to go before the French final between Robin Soderling, and Roger Federer. Both players are certainly performing their final preparations before taking the stage...Most which are mental preparations, and you have to believe that the mindsets of each warrior is slightly different.
Whether Soderling likes it or not, this is uncharted territory. Robin has gone far further than he has (boldly) ever gone before in a slam, and he's got…

Roger Federer is standing on the verge of creating a history as a win over Robin Soderling today will confirm his status as a 'Legend' in the tennis history books.
Now that he is into the finals, the equations have all changed but ironically, just a month ago he was totally written off as someone who may never win a slam again, or that he is past his prime. Ofcourse, there were a few exceptions too in some firm believers of Federer's talent and charisma. The other day I came across…

“I’m sorry I played better than you.” Svetlana Kuznetsova told Dinara Safina on the awards podium today after beating her 6-4, 6-2 in the French Open final. It may have come out wrong, but I think Kuzy…

Hello,
I am a 4.0 looking to hit after 6pm weeknights and anytime during weekends. I prefer La Cienega, Burbank, or Studio City but Poinsettia is convenient and inexpensive. Let me know. Thanks.

Soderling has done it again.
To many, this is probably one of the most improbable runs at a Grand Slam in recent memory. While he certainly isn’t the lowest ranked player to get this far, Robin Soderling has never made it past the 3rd round of any major, ever! The guy has not even won a clay event in his life...And here in France, Soderling has not only made it to the finals, he defeated arguably the greatest clay court player of all time, in what was one of the…

So I don't think I did the Pick 'em team any favors this go-around with my French Open predictions!
The semifinal brackets in both the men and women draws are set at the French, and I can't help but think of this: Man, did I blow it.
See, one of my favorite things to do at my blog,
Tennis Talk, Anyone? is to make quarterfinal predictions and I usually do pretty good, with about four to six right in each draw. This year's French is…

For the most part of my life, I have not been a physical learner. I played softball for about 10 minutes when I was in elementary school, up until the point I took a ball to the mouth. I played volleyball a bit in junior high, but nothing super competitive. And I took a tennis course in college, almost a decade ago, and spent most of the class time running laps, because that was our instructor's solution for fixing students when they did things incorrectly, like popping the ball out of the…

12th seeded Chilean Fernando Gonzalez continued his dream run at the 2009 French Open with an exciting four sets win over championship's third seed and one of the strongest contendors for the title, Andy Murray.
"His forehand is the biggest in tennis," Murray said.
"If you look at some of the shots he's hit, he's hitting forehands from like a metre wide of the tramline on some points and hitting winners off them.
"Even if you try to hit a ball to his backhand,…
