Today is quarterfinal day at the Citi Open in College Park, Maryland. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 8th seeds all survived early rounds and are ready to battle their opponents on the other side of the net and the heat. It was a suffocating kind of heat yesterday afternoon when I arrived at The Tennis Center at College Park, but after the first match and a half it seemed to cool off a bit. This…

I have heard a Soccer Mom talk of attending a recital, ballet practice, and a PTA meeting all scheduled at 9am! Do not ask me how; I am not a soccer mom! Coaching in the burbs, gave me the opportunity to witness these Wonder women types in action.
Soccer moms are quite efficient when it comes to arranging, scheduling, multiple events and commitments…

The first week and the first tournament on the 'Road to the US OPEN' is in the books and Marty Fish not only saves two match points but takes the trophy home from Atlanta. I hope this is more to come for Marty and since he has secured his position for the US Open he is one of the top americans this year to follow to the open and you can follow him to Los Angeles where he will be the number 1 seed this coming week at the Farmers Open. Over in Hamburg at the ATP World Tour 500 tournament…

I seem to be spending way to much time researching and studying the tennis industry these days so why not share some tidbits and brief notes here. It looks like Venus Williams is the proud owner of 5 or so Jamba Juice Franchises and will be promoting the brand as well... they do make the best smoothies, the kids love em!
A new racket brand -'bolt' is entering the market, apparently the racket has a suspension system that keeps the strings off the frame and therefore vibration is…

Unlike last week's Stuttgart event that featured no seeds in the quarterfinals, Hamburg seeds are in each quarterfinal spot this week. In Atlanta, at the first US Open Series event, the top three seeds survived the opening rounds. On the women's side, the Baku, Azerbaijan event's big story has been the…

Are you ever left wondering what tension would be best based on your game and racket, this Iphone app might be the ticket. I am conflicted regarding this tournament that is being held in Hamburg this week. Tennis betting or sports betting in general is ILLEGAL in the United States, but an ATP tournament in Germany is underwritten by an online sports betting company from Austria? First off I do not gamble on tennis or any sport so I find it a little disturbing that we are sending such conflicting signals to our children. Is it not true that the prize money comes from the sponsors and the sponsor is an online…
