How Will History Judge Nikolay Davydenko?

Maybe you expected it, but if you didn't, no worries: I'll bet you're like about 95 percent of the tennis fans out there!

I'm referring to Nikolay Davydenko winning one of the ATP Tour's biggest stops, the Shanghai Masters. He followed up his near-classic semifinal win over Novak Djokovic with a straight-set defeat of Rafael Nadal, the top seed. This is Davydenko's fourth title of the season, all coming post-Wimbledon. I wonder if his legs are a little fresher after being sidelined… Continue

Five years from now...

Five years from now, how do you think the ATP tour will look? Will Roger still be playing at the age of 34? Rafael Nadal will be 28 and most probably still be able to play some good tennis if he has not quit due to injuries. Could Djokovic be the World No. 1 in the future and be a consistant Grand Slam Winner? Maybe Andy Murray aswell? Del Potro is still young and has the many good years infront of him. I have given this alot of thought and I am wondering who that person is, the one that… Continue

Looking for a partner - NYC area

Hi! I'm 29yo male, NTRP 4.0. I'm looking for a partner to hit, do drills and play sets/match. Jersey city / Hoboken / Lower Manhattan area is preferable. I can play on weekday afternoons or weekends, 3-4 times a week. I'm ok with playing indoor and splitting the cost when weather is not perfect.

If you are a pro player (NTRP 5.5 and above) or a coach and you don't mind hitting a ball with me, i can discuss private lessons options.

Please drop me a line at… Continue

Roger Federer is Not A Douchebag

This blogpost was found here: http://yourvolleyssuck.wordpress.com/roger-federer-is-not-a-douche/

This is an ongoing post that will chronicle how Roger is NOT a douchebag, contrary to popular (and by popular, I mean internetz) belief. I’ve seen a lot of lists naming all the times that ~RF has been arrogant, prissy, douchey, etc. And yeah, he can exhibit those qualities, but at the end of the day he’s still a nice guy (a great guy, in fact!). Federer is just like every other player –… Continue

Me as a Tennis Player

I come from sport family. Both parents competed in sports (swimming, table tennis). As a young boy, I started to train swimming in a swimming club. One time I did not swim required time, and they let me go.This was the end of my swimming career, and the beginning of my tennis career.I started to play tennis rather late (12 year old).First year I was in the tennis school , but after that I was on my own.At the time, there were not good tennis teachers because tennis knowledge was very limited.Good… Continue

How to Beat Lobbers

I am so frustrated!

This keeps happening again and again, day after day. Do you want to know what is making me mad? The city which I live in, is called Uppsala. It is the fourth biggest city of Sweden and has around 180 000 inhabitators. Why would I be telling you this? Patience, I will get there. =P

So the city has one big club, it is called the UTK, Uppsala tennis club.

The club has 9 indoor courts. Then there is this other club that has three places where you can play and they are all split in… Continue

So What About Copyrighted Content?

Hi everyone. I know that most internet users run willy-nilly copying great photos and pasting them to their favorite websites (Tennisopolis included.) I couldn't imagine how many illegally duplicated photos are on Facebook alone. Not to mention all the illegal vids on YouTube. Nonetheless, it is not allowed. Unless you have been given permission by the author of a photo (some people call them photographers, but in the world of copyright law "author"… Continue

Season of Discontent

The quarters are set in Shanghai, but it seems like all the talk this week has been about injuries leading to match retirements and the big issue on players' minds: a longer offseason.

Scratch that: I meant on "some" players' minds. It's not everybody, but two of the game's big dawgs on the ATP Tour, Rafael Nadal and Andy Roddick, have made their thoughts known on the subject. But here's something I thought of that should be brought up: Why hasn't Novak Djokovic come out and said… Continue

Rafael Nadal vs Tall Players

It first happened in the US Open 2009. Rafael Nadal got beat pretty bad by Juan Martin Del Potro who later went on to clinch the Us Open title. Even though Rafa was injured in that match there was something I just could not get out of my head, Nadals gameplan. What was his gameplan? To feed Del Potro with short topspins to allow him to come in and attack with his huge forehand? I would like to think that Rafa is a smart player, I mean it has to take… Continue

Tennis pros on steroids?

Sitting at a café in Cyprus as we speak, man I should have had time to post a blog yesterday but I did not have any. Oh well, enough time to write a blogpost I believe. Professional athletes use of steroids, is something I would like to discuss. The first person that comes into peoples mind is usually Rafael Nadal and it has been quite a topic for discussion during these last years. While some claim that he and many other top players on the ATP Wourldtour are using steroids, others say that it… Continue

The most beautiful racket in the world!

Ive been playing with Prince Ozone Tour for the past 3 months and playing some of the most consistent stuff in 2 yrs. My problem with it is I cant serve with it! Maybe its the larger head I dont know, cant hit a hot serve and cant slice out wide. As my serve is my biggest weapon I decided to go look somewhere else and I found the most beautiful racket in the world. The Wilson Pro Staff Tour 90, same mold as the Fed racket, similar spec,… Continue

Marge Simpson is hotter than Serena

Serena Williams goes to the doctors office in Beverly Hills

When ESPN decided to run a bunch of nude covers including one of Serena Williams, I really thought that this would become the immediate topic of rampant conversation. After all, it’s not everyday that you see Serena strategically positioned to hide all her female parts while wearing not a stitch of clothing.

But to my surprise, the ‘Body Issue’ seems to have sunk… Continue
