Anyone tried a custom made Vantage ??

Posted on January 7, 2010 at 1:00pm 22 Comments

I have been using my kps88 for a while now and playing very well. Recently tho with the cold wet weather ive been struggling with the heavy slow balls which makes my racket feel twice as heavy. So ive been looking for something I can mod a little to make a slightly easier playing version of my 88s.

I lke some of the older lighter pro staffs like the classic but i wanted something I wouldnt struggle getting hold of. The problem is… Continue

my S & V game

As some of you know Im a bit of a Racketaholic.

Throughout the 2 yrs Ive been playing i have continually analysed my progression, fitness and equipment.

As i did with golf when i was younger over a period of 3 yrs I moved from a 9 handicapper to scratch using the same obsessive analysis.

As ive improved (I used to play to a reasonably high level when very young) and got back to some of the consistency of my teens Ive also assessed my… Continue

The most beautiful racket in the world!

Posted on October 11, 2009 at 7:38am 1 Comment

Ive been playing with Prince Ozone Tour for the past 3 months and playing some of the most consistent stuff in 2 yrs. My problem with it is I cant serve with it! Maybe its the larger head I dont know, cant hit a hot serve and cant slice out wide. As my serve is my biggest weapon I decided to go look somewhere else and I found the most beautiful racket in the world. The Wilson Pro Staff Tour 90, same mold as the Fed racket, similar spec,… Continue

Customisation and Paint Jobs (join my group)

Tried the customised route and it works for me on a head LM radical and i.radical (strung weight 318g) I added an extra grip (15g) and lead top of handle (20g) and lead at 10 & 2 (10g) Total weight 363g, and 8 pts head light. These IMO are the best rackets to customise (the radicals) they are great rackets that need a bit of ooomph.

I think its interesting to customise and see how it affects your game and I have definately come out of… Continue

Dodgy knees and the hardcourt season.

Posted on August 4, 2009 at 2:05am 1 Comment

Forget the grass court season August is my favourite time with Montreal, Cincinnatti and the US Open all on the hard courts, great games, great point, just great tennis.

Who are your tri-bet for the series above, who will be number 1 when the US open is done? Will Nadal be back? Will Fed slip on baby sick and sprain his wrist? Will Roddick slip off his wife and sprain his ego (for want of a better word)? Will DP smack his head on the… Continue

I actually use the China made PT 280 with the 100% graphite construction. Has a crisp feel rather than buttery. So I may like that Bastcore frame! :)

Thanks Richard for the info on the Vantage frames. Definitely gives me a way out of endlessly searching for the Pro Tour 280. :)

Hey Rich, agree the latest UKRHs version isn't quite happening as we'd like (not quite set up for what we want) - so good to try something different...

That's great to hear!  Congratulations on becoming a father!

I'm glad you're coming back into form at some point here.  We seem to have got a good momentum in the Forums!  Looking forward to the Aussie!
