How do I Find a Good Tennis Coach?

The best way is almost always word of mouth. If you do not have that opportunity and tennis is a new adventure to you, take trial lessons from 3 different coaches within your vicinity and see what works for you. Most clubs and coaches have promo rates, ask. Some let you sit in on a group lesson and get a hang of it. Does it sounds a little like the dating scene, absolutely and the concept is quite similar, if you are going to invest time, money, and sweat, you deserve a good result out of…

Looking for a tennis partner in the East Bay Area (Concord, Pleasant Hill, Walnut Creek) 3.0-3.5

How's it going?

I've been looking for a hitting partner as I'm slowly getting back to playing tennis.

I've just been hitting balls against a wall last week, and it's starting to get really boring.  I would surely love to find somebody to hit rallies with.

I live in Concord aread.  I am free weekdays/weekends (after 10am).

Let me know if you're interested.

Thanks!

Staying Healthy for the Transition from Indoor Winter Tennis to Outdoor Play

As spring welcomes the outdoor season, tennis enthusiasts potentially face unwelcome injuries if they do too much too soon and fail to take proper precautions to transition from indoor to outdoor play. For many players, an hour a week indoors is not enough to prepare for the many hours they will spend outdoors during the first spring weekend. Each year, more than 78,000…

Compression sleeve aka shooter sleeve

You may have seen Kobe, Dwight Howard or Iverson wear them. They keep the blood flowing and they help with arm Fatigue, and since i been working on hitting balls from the baseline hard i found my arms being sore and fatigue a lot, so my dad bought me a pair and i tried them and they seem to work and i thought maybe i just got over the soreness so i decided id leave them at…

“Cut back on your errors”

Most of the points in a tennis match are over after only three or four hits. At every level, the majority of points are lost and not won. This means that most of the points are won due to errors rather than winners.

The best way to understand errors is to learn the four mistakes in tennis. They are:

  • hitting the ball into the net
  • hitting the ball over the baseline
  • hitting the ball wide to the left
  • hitting the ball wide to the…

How to Develop Bone Crushing Serves.

There are many different muscles that contribute to the velocity and power of your Tennis Serve. And not only does each muscle deserve specific attention, but as a whole the muscles should be trained in a way that together they produce power that begins in your toes and is transferred up your body and out to the ball.

Below is an image that displays specific pivot points during your serving motion and is labeled as each of the main muscle groups are activated in…

Del Potro on the comeback, defeats Lopez narrowly.

Del Potro looked sharp enough, frustrating Lopez at the beginning. His trademark forehand and rock solid two hander all seemed intact, along with that thundering serve. Lopez took the match to Delpo to three very tight sets and delivered on his volleying prowess. Will Delpo be ready for the Australian, ranked in the 250s at the beginning of this match in…

Soderling hangs tough against Roddick

Roddick gave Soderling some trouble in the second set with some very clever play. Le Sod had to wade it out, picking the right moments for his missile forehand. The Swede looks a little more adept at playing the net, more maneuverable and less hesitant. Roddick also seems to have some heat in the forehand and his slice looks more…

Federer defeats Davydenko at Doha final

Davydenko's groundstrokes had little effect on the Fed Express today. Federer made very few mistakes and kept changing his pattern. Davydenko could not get set and dictate from the middle. Well, with the Australian a little more than a week away, things look promising for the talented…
