Andre Agassi Book Signing Las Vegas

...Like Serena, Andre has been doing the rounds promoting this book. Like Serena he has been hopping from one continent to another, submitting to interviews and fan-filled book signings. Except that unlike Serena, Andre is a thoughtful and self-revelatory interview subject. Here is a report written by Elaine “Lainey” Lui, a Special Correspondent for Canadian TV who… Continue

How To Be A Great Tennis Partner

I play for four different tennis teams right now. That means, with shuffling line-ups and subs, I may have four different partners each week. In the course of a month, I can theoretically be partnered with sixteen different people!

So, each month, I may be learning how to partner and achieve success with sixteen different people. And, sixteen different people may be sizing me up, considering my tennis game, deciding if I am the kind of partner they ever want to play with… Continue

Paris Masters 1000 Update

Roger Federer

Shocking first-round exit against Julien Bennetau. Federer wins first set comfortably (5-2). And like he usually does when he gets comfortable, in his mind he thinks the match is over and it is going to be an easy win, but Julien forces the second set into a tie-break and wins that one. Roger looses his composure and gets broken early in the second set, match results: 5-2 6-7 4-6 - Julien Bennetau wins his greatest match ever so far in his career. Good for him. What… Continue

Federer Vs Djokovic @ Basel

The good town folk of Basel were in for a treat this last weekend, or so they thought. Basel resident and favorite son Roger Federer lost in three sets to Novak Djokovic 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 bringing to a close what had started off as a pretty good year for the greatest tennis pro off all time. Well there's always the Barclays end of year Master's Series in London to redeem himself before taking a much needed vacation.

So what went wrong? Have the top dogs found a chink in Federer's… Continue

Enough Members To Fill Arthur Ashe Stadium!?!?

Looks like we'll need to be changing out the first image on the Main page. We've been boasting that we have enough members in Tennisopolis to fill Centre Court (at Wimbledon of course) which can fit about 15,000 fans. But in a few weeks we'll surpass the capacity of the largest tennis stadium in the world, Arthur Ashe. Ashe can hold 23,200 fans. Right now, Tennisopolis just broke through the 22,000… Continue

Italy v USA - Fed Cup World Group Final Day Two

The US just lost the Fed Cup title to Italy. The US would more than likely have won the Fed Cup title if either of the Williams sisters had played. The US would definitely have won the Fed Cup title if both of the sisters had played. The US needs the Williams sisters. That is the plain truth.

Roger and Rafa about Agassi's meth confession

Nadal-"Asked about the surprise statements Andre Agassi, in which the U.S. admitted having used drugs. "I think is fatal," said Nadal, who said he did not understand "why say that now because he is retired, is a way of hurting the sport without any sense. If at the time the ATP covered the topic of Agassi and yes I passed other seems a lack of respect for all sports and from my point of view I want, I believe and hope that none of this is happening now. I think we have a clean sport and I am… Continue

Venus Williams : 'Moving away from Glory'

Most of us recognize Venus Williams as a five time Wimbledon champion, some even consider her the best server in women's tennis and others simply praise her for being an exceptional ambassador for women's sport. Though for Venus Williams herself, finding an identity, atleast on court, is becoming increasingly difficult.

As blatant as it may sound, there is not even a percentage of accusative element in the statement mentioned above and in an effort to present the readers with the… Continue

Why I Love Mini-Court

Around here, warming-up for a match, a clinic, a lesson or drills always starts with "mini-court" tennis. You stand at the service line and your opponent, across the net, does the same. In singles, you're in the middle of the court, at the center of the service line. In doubles, you're on the service line at the back of whatever service box is on the side you'll be playing (forehand or backhand side). Then you just "tap" the ball back and forth with your opponent. The goal - keep the ball in… Continue

Sony Ericsson Championships - Doha 2009 - Previews

It’s been kind of interesting to look at which small fry have emerged to positions of success over the past two weeks while the big guns have been preparing for the year-end tournaments. Mainly, this has turned out to be an exercise in confirmation of why the best players are the best, and why the remainder are the also-ran.
