...Not to be outdone, 15-year-old Laura Robson did her part to try to bring the Hopman Cup home to England, defeating Spain’s Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez in straight sets. After her sweet interview, Robson looked on expectantly as Andy Murray took on Tommy Robredo. So confident was I that Murray would win that match that I stopped watching after he closed out the first set 6-1.… Continue

There was a time when I used to completely ignore the results of exhibitions matches. I’m talking about the era of players like Anna Kournikova who had the ability to attract hordes to her matches. Her opponents would invariably throw her some fluff balls so that she would not look like a complete moron. Pretty much the way she is now treated during Arthur Ashe Children’s Day… Continue

I have been using my kps88 for a while now and playing very well. Recently tho with the cold wet weather ive been struggling with the heavy slow balls which makes my racket feel twice as heavy. So ive been looking for something I can mod a little to make a slightly easier playing version of my 88s.
I lke some of the older lighter pro staffs like the classic but i wanted something I wouldnt struggle getting hold of. The problem is… Continue
Here’s a great stretch I found that’s often overlooked in tennis. It’s great for hip flexibility, and it actually feels good too. You can do this before and/or after a match. And it works really well the next day, too, if you’re sore… here’s how to do it.
1. Walk over to the fence and place both hands on the rail

Robin Soderling keeps saying that he is getting closer and closer for each time he is facing Roger, he has lost 13 of their meetings and was able to win 14th time lucky at the Abu Dhabi Capitala tournament. But can you really give him credit for the win? First of all the tournament isn't more than a warmup for the year comming up in my opinion and when it really matters, Robins chances are slim, I mean just look at these highlights:
In the first part we talked about five of the most talented tennis players of the past decade, who, despite their astonishing achievements, missed the cut for the top five spots in our list. Gustavo Kuerten, Marat Safin and Pete Sampras were some of those names, who only managed to grab spots in the bottom half of the countdown. Today, we discuss the BEST of the BEST, as the competition only gets stiffer with every single rank passing.
I guess we're all in a retrospective-type mood, having entered a new decade and all! If you hadn't gotten a chance, check out Tennischick's take on the past 10 years. Here's mine that originally ran on my blog, Tennis Talk, Anyone? — it's a list, since everyone always likes a list!
10. Aussie Rules
Now, I know Australian tennis players didn't exactly dominate the decade, but for a couple of years there, one of them… Continue

I have never been officially ranked but I am perhaps a 3.0-3.5. I haven't played in a bit but I have been playing racquetball quite a bit lately. Would love to get back into tennis if anyone is game.

...On the men’s tour, the decade of the aughts (00’s) belonged principally to Nadal and Federer. Among the women, there is no question that the William sisters were dominant. And while Nadal and Federer carved out a rivalry from the get-go, the sisters initially struggled when facing each other. Serena has since decisively won the mental game against her sister. But it was Venus who… Continue

Have you ever wondered how it feels to win two Grand slams in a year, along with the final spot in all four majors and still be ranked No.2 at the yearend rankings? Of course, you don't, after all we are not even close to being in the same league as tennis great Roger Federer and so it inevitably brings a variety of responses to the fore, doesn't it? Some might find it absolutely unjustified, some might find themselves inquisitive, and others may simply discard the whole idea.
The 2000-09 decade can be easily considered one of the most competitive decade women's tennis has ever witnessed. With no clear domination of a single player, there were twelve different Grand Slam winners from and a series of nail-biting rivalries that regaled the tennis arena with some breath-taking tennis. As we bid goodbye to the past decade, let's take a look at some of the brightest names of the last ten years -
