Not McEnroe. He strings about the 50lb mark. Frank Dancevic was the guy at 18.5kg. I have seen players go even lower, down to about 14kg, but I haven't strung for them.

Yes, I know many players still use their favorite rackets but with paint jobs. How could the top 100 players change racquets every two years and expect to always remain consistent? Marat Safin for instance always used the Prestige Classic. I have strung for a few former tour players myself, but no big names. My guess is that McEnroe used the 18.5kg tension. I remember former tou rplayer Derek Restagno used a fairly low tension as well.

There are many things I could say, though some things have to remain confidential. Not every player uses the racket they appear to be using. The lowest I've strung for a pro was 18.5kg and the highest 32/31kg. I don't mind answering questions about specific players, provided the information isn't too sensitive.

Hi Jazar, that's a lot of top players you've strung for. What other interesting tidbits or factoids can you give us about players and their racquets from your unique experience?

It varies, but its usually around 50lbs.

Bart Wallace (on Tennisopolis) told me he got to test Mac's wood racquet's tension during a changeover. Told me it was around 25-35 lbs! What is Mac's current tension, or is this private info?

I have strung for Nadal, Davydenko, Melzer, McEnroe, Santoro, Wozniacki, Clijsters, Zvonareva, Azarenka, Stosur and Mauresmo, to name just a few of the more famous players. I think in total I've strung for about 25% of the top 100 men and women.

Hey Jamie, I have an old guy in my town who used to string for Rod Laver. So who did you get to string for? curious...

Hi everyone!

Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Jamie and I'm a pro stringer. I'm an ERSA Master Racket Technician and Pro Tour Stringer. I've strung for some of the best players in the world over the last two yeas at the Aegon International (Eastbourne), Aegon Championships (Queens) and Wimbledon.
