Really looking forward to the AO, like usual tennis goes missing for two weeks over Xmas and new year and we all lose the plot and dribble with excitement and anticipation of the first grand slam of the year.
Is this gonna be any different than usual, is anyone going to break the stranglehold that these top four players have in the big events?
Who are the contenders? These are my few.....
Tsonga: big chance this year, loads of confidence coming into the tourney.
Roanic: watching him in Chennai, he is just so explosive. Big game against Tipsy today, if he wins and takes that confidence into the AO, no-one will want to see him in their side of the draw.
Berdych: playing well in the Hopman cup demolishing Guasquet, I like him here, should go far.
Isner: Has the game here but has he got the brain, looking for big things from him this year.
Del Potro: hopefully back fit after and back on form, if he is then he is a time bomb ticking for one of the four fairly early in the tourney with his ranking.
I dont see anyone else, of course there will be upsets but I believe only these 5 players can break the stranglehold of the top four guys. With they tho, probably not!

Yeah, but Djoko made some technique changes I spotted last year. Mainly his forehand is more compact with a slight alteration in the swingpath, going more across. This gives him an edge over Murray. Then, of course, his serve has changed to a more linear swingpath. Anyone can see that. So that also gives Djoko an edge over Murray.
Meags, I got the Becker Melbourne for myself now with a 1/4 grip size! That fat bevel number 1 is so annoying in the 3/8 grip size, I can't get to full Western. My good friend, Giselle is stringing it up Sunday so I'll letcha know what I think of it. Got it for $99, before they get bought up.
I am kind of sensing a Murray versus Nadal final. Djoko looked horrible last night. Sickly, somewhat injured, and I think if Ferrer had of picked up on that would have given just a bit more. I am looking forward to the Kvitova v Sharapova match also. Almost seems more fitting for the final.
They seemed to be the most amped up. I almost would go your way, Mark. It's too tough to tell whether Djoko is really injured or not, or whether Fed is gonna play lights out.
DJOKOVIC!!! Nadal should've never said Novak's breathing problems were gamesmanship.
Not only did no one really threaten the top 4, but the top 4 themselves went down in order. Nole is such a great competitor and handles the nerves better than Rafa, Andy and Fed. Who would've predicted that 5 years ago???
I would have. if I was watching 5 years ago. remember That I said Nole has the best chance to win all four in calendar season
yeah, I remember that clearly...
Not happening. The pressure will get to him. The others will do all they can to not allow that to happen.
I can see the rest of the slams being split up: Nadal (French), Murray or Fed (Wimb), Djoko (US).
I would think Murray would have a better chance at winning the U.S. Open long before he wins Wimbledon. But I do see Rafa at the French and possibly Fed at Wimbledon, although he will have two tough outs in Rafa and Djoko there now. Plus that is where Tsonga beat him last year. I am really struggling to see Fed win another Major at all, quite honestly.
If he can get the English crowd behind him, and win there, it would be dramatic and epic! Then Lendl could say he won Wimbledon indirectly. lol
That is too funny. Llendl winning Wimbledon through Murray. Hilarious.
