I called Nick Bollettieris Multimedia coordinator David today at 11.40 and was connected to Nick himself in a 20 minutes long phone interview. I had some problems recording what comes through the speakers so my voice volume is very loud, nicks volume is alot lower. You can hear what he is saying but I thought I would write down his answers so that you could follow what he is saying with more ease. I am sorry for this and will correct this by being…

This week, I only got to play two out of three of my leagues due to Yom Kippur that fell on Monday evening.
Singles went quite well last week. One thing my hubby has always noted about my game is that I'm not aggressive enough. I definitely try to play pretty safe to make sure my shots are consistent, but that also means fewer winners and longer rallies. But last week, I tried to step it up a bit, with a goal to not be the last court still playing the match, like I usually am. And…

Last week was the first week I played three league matches, and I must say it was a BLAST!
The first night was women's round robin doubles, and definitely the longest night of tennis, as it is a guaranteed three matches. I found that my net game had suffered some loss of confidence, as I just didn't feel good about my volleys. My serves were pretty good during the first set, including getting an ace based on deliberately placing it away from the receiver. Unfortunately, my arm got a…

Maybe it was the cancellation of my last season of singles. Maybe it was the surprising love of doubles thanks to subbing a few times. Maybe it was the desire of wanting to play on the same side as my hubby for a change, instead of always practicing against each other.
Maybe all three of these were what led me to signing up for not one, not two, but three different leagues for this season. I'm going to be playing 2.5 women's singles and doubles, and also 3.5 mixed doubles. Three…

Looks like we'll need to be changing out the first image on the
Main page. We've been boasting that we have enough members in Tennisopolis to fill Centre Court (at Wimbledon of course) which can fit about 15,000 fans. But in a few weeks we'll surpass the capacity of the largest tennis stadium in the world, Arthur Ashe. Ashe can hold 23,200 fans. Right now, Tennisopolis just broke through the 22,000…

...But from the moment Oudin came on court, my attention was all hers. She was playing against Maria Sharapova, a player who normally attracts the support of American audiences everywhere. In fact, it has become almost convenient to forget that Sharapova, with her unshakable American accent, is not actually American.
My prediction was that Sharapova was in for…

I’ve been going to the US Open since 1999. The first time I went, I was alone, a novice feeling her way around a major tournament. I was picked up in turn by an elderly Jewish couple with season tickets, a father and son from Columbia, and a Junior player who had lost in his opening round and needed someone to latch on to until his parents could…

Hello tennis friends -- especially in the Los Angeles area!
I've been an avid tennis fan since a teenager and have played intermittently throughout the years. I love the game, the socializing, the exercise, etc.
Now that I'm getting back into "the swing of things" and am focusing on my health, I would like to use my culinary skills to help others get back into shape as well.
If you're interested in homecooked, healthy, organic, delicious tasting meals (or tips…
