Last week was the first week I played three league matches, and I must say it was a BLAST!

The first night was women's round robin doubles, and definitely the longest night of tennis, as it is a guaranteed three matches. I found that my net game had suffered some loss of confidence, as I just didn't feel good about my volleys. My serves were pretty good during the first set, including getting an ace based on deliberately placing it away from the receiver. Unfortunately, my arm got a little sore, as I've been putting more power into my serves, so my serves during the second set got away from me a bit. Overall though, it was a good first night, as I went 6-3 with my first partner, 3-6 with my second, and 7-6 with my third partner.

The next night was women's singles. The first set went pretty well, at 6-2. The second set proved pretty formidable, as I found myself down 2-4, 0-40 in the 7th game. I really had to pull my head out of rear at that point and mentally prepare myself for a fight, and that I did. I came back, won that game, and then went on to win the set 6-4.

After a two day break, my last league match of the week was mixed doubles, the first time I've gotten to play on the same team with my husband. This league is going to be the real challenge for me, as it is a 3.5 - 3.9 league based on my husband's ranking, but I'm somewhere between 2.5 and 3.0. Our first opponents were definitely both 3.5's or above, and if everyone else is like them, the strategy is going to be pick on the weakest link, which will be me. I thought, even though we did lose both sets, that we did pretty good for our first partnering, and for his first time ever playing doubles. I, again, just need to work on my net game and getting my second serve in.

So there you have it, the first week of three league matches. I thought it might be tiring, but it turned out really fun, and I'm looking forward to it again. This week I will not have the round robin doubles due to Yom Kippur, but singles and mixed doubles are on. Then next week, back in full swing again. :)
