LIVE - Dinara Safina vs Kristina Barrois

World number one Dinara Safina manages to win again 'somehow' defeating the charismatic Kristina Barrois in three sets as she rallied from behind to win after over 2 hours and 12 minutes of intense battle. Safina won 6-7 6-2 6-3.

The match reminded of Safina's first round match against Rogowska where she had lost the first set too, but rallied to win.

Defending champions cruise into third round in New York

Top seed and five time defending champion Roger Federer reached the third round of the 2009 US Open with a straight set, yet hard-fought win over German Simon Greul.

First it was Kim Clijsters. Then I heard talk about Mary Pierce who is reportedly in serious training with Yutaka Nakamura at Bollettieri’s. And now rumor is that Henin is training for some exhibition matches later this year and may be open to returning to competing for real. What’s going on? What’s with all this leaving and coming back?
