Tennisopolis : Tennis Social Network

There are a lot of cool activities this year.

Here is the link to them.

If I was there early enough, I think it would be fun to watch the Pre-Qualifying tournament.  CoachV, did you sign up yet?  :-)  For only a $50 entry fee you get to play against other amateurs to fight your way into the Qualifying tourney!

I saw one local San Bernardino woman try to qualify three years ago. She was already 35 or something and had been ranked in California. She lost pretty badly to someone in better shape and a more modern game in the first round.

I imagine the draw would be filled with all the guys and gals that were not given spots in the qualifier tourney.  In other words, players that are JUST outside the top tier.  Actually, this would be a good tournament for Myiesha to play now that I am thinking about it.

Yes this would be But she would need her ITF membership card.

Well For $50 bucks thats a good buy in. But the Draw will be about 120 players. so that about 10 Matches to 12 matches to get into the Main Draw.......I make money Teaching not playing thats about 2 weeks full time at $35 an hour for no money.....Im not young anymore & Ive got a 5yo to take care of. but thanks for thinking i can do it.

Some top Nor Cal players in that draw Oren Motavassel former top 200 in the world, Chris Wettengel #2 seed top 500, beat the pants off me 5 years back.

Wow, the women's has some top up and comers....Madison Keys, Asia M., Sasha Vickery

Who Dat?

Gail She lost to Keys in the finals of the Aussie Open Wildcard Tourney

Well, it is certainly interesting to see how top ranked juniors fare against the older veterans there. It's basically free to watch and you're on the grounds of the fifth Slam. :)
