This was a really fun event. I joined the low intermediate group and although I think I was down a level it was certainly good practice! They mixed up the drills so that we did baseline hitting (as well as playing points), volleys, overheads, serves (some return practice but not much). For $5 you really could not beat it. Had a great time tonight - met Matt, LisaLou and Rosemary and got in some good groundstroke practice. Lisa took some pics with my camera (ok, HOW did I not get pics of you and Rosemary??) of Matt and I so I'll get those uploaded as soon as I can.

I'd definitely recommend this informal get-together to anyone - there were several unused courts!

....overall I was really pleased. I met up with Tom V. from the Cedar Park Group. We played at the Cedar Park High School courts, 9am. Hit around for about 1 1/2 hours. Thankfully Tom was patient with me...consistency was never my high point and it will take a while to get that back! Tom has great ground strokes and was even gracious enough to give me some good pointers on the topspin forehand, which I really appreciated. So I had to get a new racquet tonight, as mine seems to have disappeared in my latest move. Good excuse, anyway! I decided to hold off buying anything new and expensive, and ended up buying the Wilson nCode N4 (oversize). My old one was a Prince, oversize from God only knows what year. I paid $99 at Golfsmith, it was prestrung and that also narrowed the decision down. I went with a 4 1/2 so I can use an overgrip and get to the 4 5/8 I need. The… Continue

I found this site completely by accident, and I think it's just what I'm looking for. Watching the French Open highlights has re-sparked my interest in playing. Too bad for me my friends are not into tennis, and I can't drag my 11 year old daughter to play with me!
