2012 US OPEN SEMIFINALS: Serena vs. Errani and Sharapova vs. Azarenka!

Well, out of the four, I would pick Serena to beat all three. I definitely think she can handle Errani's kicker without a problem and her groundies would drive through that claycourter's spin that Errani has.

As for Azarenka vs. Sharapova, it's a toss up. Vika used to have Maria's number, but that changed. I expect whoever is more intense to win. lol

So what do you think, is it Serena's Slam to lose? Will she come out flat like that first round loss in the French?

Most definitely Serena's to lose. As always, if Serena's serve is on, the rest of her game seems to follow suit. What's been so impressive is her return game. The reason she demolished Sharapova at the Olympics was because she was returning the ball so deep every single time. I expect a 6-1 6-2 set against Errani and a 3 and 3 set against either vika or maria..your thoughts?

Yeah, both sounds very reasonable. But I expect even a worse thrashing in the final. lol

lol....I tried to be generous in 3 and 3. But I agree. I feel like we're going to see Serena play the most dominant match of her career, ever.

So far, Azarenka and Sharapova have split a set each!

Azarenka looked so cool and calm in that great third set and Maria looked nervous and sweaty.  Go Vichka!  (BTW, when did she start spelling it like this?  Her twitter is vika8.)

Got the Serena/Errani match score right! Now to see if Serena will let me have a clean sweep and knock Vika out 3 and 3.

Sounds about right.  Serena is so dominant right now, but if you remember back to last year's final - She was coming in with all the momentum - all the confidence and fell surprisingly to Sam Stosur in the final.

That's true. But I just feel like this is the same Serena that won the Serena Slam..maybe even better. Granted, she played well last year leading up to the final against Stosur, but even still I don't think I can remember a more dominant stretch of play coming from her since week two of Wimbledon. In the final against Sam, her first serve wasn't on, and her game revolved around 1 and 2 strike tennis (a product of her huge serve). Her serve is on fire right now and she's returning better than I've ever seen. I still say its her's to lose! What do you think?

I honestly didn't think Azarenka could win more than 6 games.  But she had the championship on her racquet!  Serena almost lost another one.  I didn't see one point of the match though....
