Tennisopolis : Tennis Social Network

The USTA is rolling out a social networking site. Why do they have to go and mention Tennisopolis in their press release and then call it a regional website? I remember the usta's first attempt at social networking called "find a player". I think that I got maybe one match off of that site. What the USTA should have done if they were going to get back into social networking would be to buy Tennisopolis and pump money into it from there. Unless they did offer and Mr. Mayor said no. In that case I would have said "take the money"!

I'd like to see the mention of Tennisopolis by the USTA. The USTA "Find a Player" got me only two people contacting me, and the players overrated themselves. Nice guys though.

Where did you see this press release Jazz?

... Wipes the egg off of his face... I would like to apologize for riling up Tennisopolis and I would like to apologize to the USTA. Upon further review the article I read on chicagotennisnews.com was more of an information piece mixed in with the author's opinion rather than an official press release from the USTA. The 2nd part of my post still stands if the USTA wanted to get into social networking why not just buy Tennisopolis and pump the money into that? The people and passion is already here!

Ahhhh, thanks for clearing that up.  And regarding your idea, I think you are on to something there.  It takes a long time to build up critical mass and participation.  Tennisopolis is the industry leader in the field and would love to work with the USTA in some capacity.
