A 6.0 on a bad day is still far better than a 5.0 player. A 6.0 has better fitness, experience, and weaponry than a 5.0.

yeah ok, but im better than a 5.0 so there.

Alex, I told CoachV, when I first joined Tennisopolis, that his profile was "all over the place" but he thinks it is just fine.

To ALEX & DEREK. derek is OCD......and I think  my profile is Fun. if you think i should make it more professional i can. but what will be the point?

Examples please.

HEy Derek how your excuse coming along is your left arm still hurting?

My wrist is getting better but if I try to hit a 2 handed backhand it will start hurting within an hour.  My wrist band (The Wristwidget) should be arriving on June 14.  Hopefully it will be as therapeutic as Band-It is for my tennis elbow. If anybody reading this suffers from backhand or forehand (golfers elbow) tennis elbow then get Band-It ($15 at Amazon).  It will instantly cure your tennis elbow once you find the correct position and pressure. In the last 6 months at Pelham Bay Park (site of the Old/New Tech vs. Young/Antique Wood Racket massacre) about 10 players suffering from various stages of tennis elbow have all received total relief from tennis elbow. I can't say any of them, including myself, were cured because we must keep wearing the Band-It or the pain will return.

CoachV was never quite a  6.0.  In my prime (25-28) I was a solid 6.0 and I would eat him alive in his prime.  CoachV never saw me play in my prime.  When I first met him (or should I say destroyed him) in 1995, I was 40 and he was 18.  It wasn't until he was 23 and I was 45 that he started to beat me, but it was very close.  Also he was never a playing pro.  Yes, he once won about $300 for a semi-final finish in a Crotona Park tournament run by Zack Davis; but I define a playing pro as someone who can make a living (at least $20,000 per year) playing tournaments and endorsements.  CoachV was a 5.5 with 7.0 technique on his groundstrokes but obviously something was missing.  "Something was missing alright".  I, on the other hand, had 7.0 technique on my serve but had horribly stiff and slow racket head speed on my groundstrokes that prevented me from hitting consistently hard.  CoachV was the first to point this out to me (in 2000) and for that I am forever grateful.

I should point out that I knew I had slow racket head speed because I obviously did not hit nearly as hard or make that thud! sound that all pros make.  CoachV showed me why I did not hit hard.  I simply did not take the racket back far enough.

I like this guy.  Derek, you don't mince your words do you?  You tell it like it is... putting old V in his place.  :-)

V, I think you have a good trash talking rival here!

Derek, if you were a certified USTA NTRP rater, what would you consider V to be these days?

he would consider me death Incarnated. Coming to claim HIM!

Derek, if you were a certified USTA NTRP rater, what would you consider V to be these days?

Derek is Certified CRAZY. But he has his papers to prove he is cured.

HA $350 your WRONG DEREK!
