With the heat as bad as it is, I've been trying to find the right combination of drinks to help prevent/treat cramps. Is there a favorite/empirically proven combination that works? I figured this is the best place to ask.

Yeah Gulzeb makes great points.  I agree: water, water, water.  But I also add a BANANA.  When I know I will have a long match in the heat, I take a banana and eat it between the first and second set.  It is also a good idea to eat one before you play.  The potassium prevents cramping.
Thank you for the advice guys. I try to drink a liter of water two hours before coming out and i pack a cooler full of water & gatorade. I haven't tried bananas in between but I'll give it a try. I've heard somebody mention pickle juice is a quick remedy to cramps. Has anyone tried it?
Pickle juice works pretty good. I remember the first time I tried it I thought someone was just trying to get me to drink pickle juice! Lol
There are lots of tricks... pickle juice, mustard packets

But what really really works is pedialite. (Yes, the kids medicine)

Drink it like a sports drink when it is apparent that the match is going to go the distance and you will have no problem. (Except the taste) get a flavor, not original. And it is pricey for a sports drink but works 100%

The guy I am playing on clay today had grape flavored pedialite and I had orange (a couple years ago during a final in fairfield) and just this weekend at sonoma state a ref asked if I was still drinking it and told me she made a believers out of the 4.0's. It just straight works

I would order an In-N-Out burger animal style with extra pickles after a long 6 hr hitting session. Pickles work!

Pedialyte? I've never tried that. That would make it easier to get the potassium/electrolytes during the match. Eating an In-N-Out burger during a match is disaster. lol
