was there such a thing as a fed slam?

He came close winning three slams in one year, twice. At least that's what I remember.

And you are right, sir.  ;-)  Rafa was the one who broke the Mighty Fed's heart for the Grand Slams & Fed Slams a few times.

2004, 2006, & 2007: The possible Grand Slams were not achieved, all interrupted at the French.

2005 going into 2006:  the possible Fed Slam (non-calendar slam) broken by Rafa.  The Fed won 2005 Wimby, US, & 2006 AO before losing to Rafa at the 2006 French.

2006 going into 2007:  the same Fed Slam dream broken by Rafa at the French.  The Fed won 2006 Wimby, US, & 2007 AO before losing the 2007 French to Rafa.

We'll have to see if there's a Djoko slam this year. ;)

Well, if he keeps it up, it's a calendar Grand Slam we are on the look out for.  ;-)

I see a Nadal French, the Fed Wimbledon, & hope for another Fed US Open.  We'll see how the year shapes up.

Not sure about the automatic Fed Wimbledon.  Rafa seems to hold the edge there.  I am thinking Rafa French and Wimbledon and then possibly Djoko US Open.  Fed drops to #3 or lower in rankings.
I would like that. He seemed very capable at the AO
A new ascendance of Djoko would be nice for a change. Especially with his new serve and mental attitude.
Nadal is back and ready to play Davis Cup.  That's a pretty quick recovery.  Good to be young.  ;-)  Can't wait to see him in a couple weeks.
Totally agree.  I hope he comes back the same way he did last year.  Makes for an exciting year, when you have the best playing against each other.
