Hey Guys & Gals,

I've been testing strings and tension actively the past 8 months, and just got a new set of test strings from my pro - Prince Hybrid Spin EXP (pic below) - Have any of you tried these? They're supposed to be fairly brand new.

The test strings I currently have in are Kirshbaum Hybrix spin. The mains are strung at 49 & crosses at 51. Although it seems to be a bit too loose for me, Hawk told me to use the same tension combo for these as well. My goal is to find a string that I play well with and stick to it. So, I'm wondering if it's going to hit similarly to the Kirshbaum. If so, then I want to string it a little tighter. The problem with the Kirshbaum Hybrix is that if I eased up on the swing, it'd sail long... if I tried to use my normal swing, it'd have a monstrous spin and go low into the net. Totally screwed me up.

So my question for folks with experience with this string is how comparable is Prince Hybrid Spin EXP to Kirshbaum Hybrix Spin?

Thanks,

- Todd

Funnily enough my last two restrings have been Kirschbaum Hybrix and Prince EXO3 Hybrid Spin. IMO the Prince is a much better combo.

I have nothing against the Kirschbaum; I've tried it twice now and had no complaints about it, but it's nothing too special.

The Prince, on the other hand, is probably the best pre-packaged hybrid I've ever tried. Far superior control and feel. Less string movement on the crosses as well; possibly not that important, but having to frequently move my crosses back into place annoys me.

So Prince has a good hybrid that outdoes Kirschbaum's? I personally like Kirschbaum Pro Line 2 in full...

Thanks Jazar - just loaded them into my racquet yesterday and went out to hit with my gf.

Tim - the strings had great control, much better than the Kirschbaum (imo), but the tension was

a bit different.

In the Kirschbaum I strung the racquet at 49 mains & 51 crosses and I never could get a handle on the control. Either too much spin or not enough for whatever reason.

I strung the Prince Hybrids at 49 for crosses [18 guage] (the green string in the combo, extremely stiff to me), and 55 for the mains [17 guage] (white strings).

As I said, I went out and hit with my girlfriend, so I never got to really swing at the ball as if I was in a match (just sorta tapping it back), and it irritated my elbow something fierce. It could well have been that the majority of the irritation was from being dehydrated from having more than a few drinks the night before, but I'm not sure. Gonna get super hydrated over the next few days and go out and hit again this week to see what happens.

Other than the issues with tennis elbow, I think this string is pretty good from what I can tell.

Ah, I haven't tried the Hybrix. It's not a hybrid I've tried. Shame you didn't like it. Well, I like Pro Line 2, full poly strung really tight, around 65.
I absolutely loved the way it hit (the Prince Hybrid), but it killed my elbow. I'd definitely recommend it to those who don't seem to run into probs with tennis elbow. The Kirschbaum Hybrix could probably be adjusted to work, but I haven't ordered anymore to put in my racquets right now.
Just an idea? put the 17g multi in the mains, and the 18g poly in the crosses, this will make it more playable and yet still control the power and elastic properties of the multifilament, of course if your whole reasoning is that you need durability than this wont work.  Also I found that using luxilon timo 18 g (1.10mm) is a great thin poly.
I prefer the Prince over the K's, but overall I don't really like stringing with hybrid. feels wierd to me.
