Did he over achieve and put it all together for 2 weeks to win the us open?

Or has he been under achieving since?

Lu was playing the match of his life. Serving big, returning big. Roddick wasn't reacting enough by raising his level, almost seemed resigned at the end.

It is easy to play up, it is hard to play down. At any level.

I try hard to win early rounds 0 and 0 and start drinking water. It takes practice and that mindset

I think he's a underachiever!

most of his career he was one dimensional, and just recently started making improvements. I he played in the 80's he could win a match without his opponent touching his serve, but now the players are able to return his serve and after that his chances of winning the point decrease drastically.

that being said he did have to deal with Pete and Andrea in his early career and then Roger and Rafa, so he's had huge competition.

But im a huge fan of him and his talents!

I would not call him either. He's a great tennis pro, consistently a top ten player and has been for a very long time. He put it all together and had a great run at the open. What about taking Roger to 5 sets and then some at Wimbledon. I think he needs to start hitting his forehand with more conviction and purpose. To me it seemed like win he won his Grandslam, that he used to hit his forehand to win points not to just get it back. I hope he has one more in him.

Yes..."Just right" achiever ... lol

He still has time to make his game better. It's never too late. Forget about what everyone thinks and make the changes anyways.
Great point Donnie.  I agree with you.  If only Andy could have found a way to win agains Fed at W 2 years ago.  His career seems incomplete now, but I think his chance are over for another GS.

Those were heartbreaking losses...i hope he doesn't look back on his career and regrets those losses to much,,,he played great...I still hope he will have another shot at a slam...His game has changed but has he "lost" anything? Or is it more of an issue of people knowing how to consistently play him?
