That's a good combination.  Just remember to string the Luxilon strings a few pounds less than the synthetic gut.

hybrids seem to be the way to go.  i like going poly in the mains and a synthetic in the crosses.  if you would like more power and better feel try going synthetic in the mains and poly in the crosses.  if you would like more spin and control going with poly in the mains and synthetic in the crosses.  what do you usually use?

It all comes down to playing style and personal preference in the end. If you are a big hitter and/or hit with a lot of top-spin a poly or poly hybrid is a good option. They're also better in durability. If you hit with a lot of slice, feel, and variety or struggle with arm soreness, an all gut/synthetic or a hybrid with thinner gauge is the way to go. 18g is not too commonly seen, but that might work for you if you are interested in more feel and spin and less durability and thinner strings are generally less stiff, which could help in Big Banger string.

That is not a bad idea.  That combo may end up feeling very stiff. You may get a little more power and feel if you use a softer string in the crosses, such as wilson Nxt, gamma tnt, head fxp, etc..  I have recently tried the new Babolat RPM string and strung the whole racquet with it. It felt great, gave me some power and the control was great, and it didn't feel like I was playing with a board. Remember when you use luxilon or the rpm that you need to lower the tension from what you usually do, you can keep your normal tension for the crosses

Hey there Arianne

For what it's worth, on the previous AeroPro Drive Cortex, both myself and my tennis buddy have been using Babolat Hurricane Pro 16s on the mains @ between 56-58lb (he prefers slightly higher tension as he hits with lots of topspin) and Wilson NXT 16s on the crosses at a similar tension to the mains. Have tried different combinations of strings over the last 3 years but have settled on this arrangement for many months now.

On the GT, I also have the Babolat RPM strung across the whole racquet. Took a little while to adjust but I actually enjoy this string now. Plenty of control and power without loss of feel and the bat doesn't feel like I'm hitting with a treetrunk.

Hope this helps
