I read this somewhere.  Don't kill me if it's wrong.

Stan will be at least #5 in the world, but if Fed wins the tournament, he will be #6.

If Stan wins the final he will become #3 regardless.

If Fed doesn't win the AO, Stan will be the Swiss #1 for the first time!  Unreal!

So, right before the final, Stan the man is the SWISS NUMBER ONE! it's there any chance he can keep up with Rafa?

How do you feel about his win? I say good for him! True, Rafa wasn't 100%, but for the first set and a half, Stan outplayed Rafa. And he for sure earned his way to the chance to vie for the final! I just think its crazy..Rafa has been part of some of the most epic physical battles on the tennis court, and then hurts himself playing Stan lol. The irony of it..but he handled himself like a true gentleman, both of them really.

I agree.  Let's not forget that Stan was up a set and a break before Rafa's back snapped.  Stan was playing incredibly and controlling the points.  Yes, we all know Rafa can perform amazing comebacks (even though Stan was playing better) so, unfortunately for Stan, I think this win will always have a small asterisk next to it.

Wow, that looks weird!  But I like it.  Look at that massive gap between Rafa, Nole and THE REST.  I think this season Fed will move back up to three or four.  I think Berdych might have a bad season now that he realizes he's been passed by Stan.  And for Stan.....   Will he become the real number 3 throughout the year? I can only hope.

Wow. Well, like Ferrer, he's definitely logged the man hours and fought for his spot. But with the clay season coming up, I feel like Federer and Ferrer will move back up into their respective spots at the top. What do you think?

I agree with Fed moving up to three or four. He doesn't have any points to defend and with the way he's played, as long as the person opposite the net isn't named Rafael Nadal, I'd pick him to win that match. Stan on the other hand has 2K points in the bag. He is coming off a great year last year and if he can't defend those points, he should slip back to 6 or 7.  It will be tough with Gael and Tsonga healthy again.

I'm starting to lose belief in both Gael and Tsonga.  I don't think Gael will ever be serious enough to beat one, or for that matter two, of the "big 4" in one tournament.  And Tsonga.... I don't know, I'm just not feeling it.  I think Stan wins that matchup 4 out of 5 times.

Stan 3 out of 5..... choking

I don't think Gael and Tsonga will ever win one but they can cause upsets early in big tournaments. I think they'll move up in rank

  1. the real shocker is andy i think. from being 3 &4 for so long to be placed inbetween David and tomas. Also all at one time be above federer

Yea, I hope Andy's health returns.  Would love to see a match against Stan once AM is healthy.
