Can Someone Please Tell Me Why Tennis Doesn't Get More Respect?

So probably the greatest thing in the world to me besides my family and friends is tennis. It's been that way ever since I started playing seriously as a teen more than 20 years ago. I mean, really, I can find absolutely no fault (pun not intended) with it. From going out to hit with a buddy, playing a USTA tournament or watching a Wimbledon final, there's almost nothing like it.

If I'm obsessed with it and hundreds of thousands of people around the world are, too, then why, why, WHY… Continue

Playing In Your First Tennis Tournament Part 1

I’ve written quite a few articles on the sport of tennis but none of them really took off like the “Playing Your First Tournament” series that I did on www.tennis4you.com. Some of the local kids will be playing their first tournaments this school year so I thought I’d put this series up there for you to check out and enjoy!

Whether you are a 10-year-old junior or a 50-year-old woman who’s just started playing…

New To Tennisopolis - 3.0-3.5 Player Looking For Matches in SM

Beyond what the title implicates, I'm what I'd like to call and advanced beginner. I'd love to play at least twice a week and step up my game accordingly. Dealing with people who don't really play but want to hasn't been all that fruitful so I'd figure I'd give this site a try. Best Mornings for me are Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat, And Sun around 10-Noon. I ride a bike and can play most anywhere in SM. Hit me up! Wanna play ASAP!

The Comeback Conundrum, Starring Del Potro, Tsonga and Sharapova

So a lot of our favorite players have lost in the past couple of days, huh, tennis fans?

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Maria Sharapova and Juan Martin del Potro have all been early-round casualties the past couple of days in Asia. For Tsonga, it's his first event in months, while del Potro is playing his second, both returning after injury-driven breaks. Sharapova's shoulder woes almost seem like an eon ago as she's been out there regularly competing. I'm lumping all three of them together,… Continue

Target Your Tennis Serve

Placing your serve is critical in doubles. If you are hitting short weak serves or serves to your opponent's strong side, you leave your partner vulnerable to attack at the net or you allow your opponent to control the points off the return.

You can remedy this by choosing a target and working on keeping your serve deep in the service box (except for the wide serve which should be placed shorter in the box). You will begin to control and win more points if you have good placement of… Continue
