Tennisopolis : Tennis Social Network

I'm headed to Indian Wells tomorrow as an unofficial (read non-credentialed) tennis correspondent.  This year will be my 7th in a row, and each year I have shared my experience more than the last.  For this year, I have a bit of new hardware that I will drag around the grounds with me that should make it easier for content creation.

So stay tuned to this thread which will act as a "catch all" where I place the most interesting BNP Baribas related items.

If you are a computer jockey like me, you are going to love this link.   As you grind away at your day job, you can listen in to the action of the BNP, close your eyes and imagine that you are in the spring sun of Coachella Valley.  Listen to BNP Tournament radio live here:  http://bnp.streamon.fm/

Thanks for this #NEWS Mark. I need it badly!

Here's the twitter feed - I know you don't need it V, but foe everyone else:

I made it!  Drove 11.5 hours straight through a mountaintop snow storm.  Nothing can keep us from tennis heavean.  Just before I hit the road, I saw an interview with redfoo (does any of that get capitalized by the way?) where he mentioned that he was just finishing up a song that featured a sample of Vika's screech.  I'm not making this up, here's what I found online:

My encounter with an Australian dude named Rusty.

It helps to know your tennis pros.  Look who we spotted walking right through the clueless crowds:

Yesterday was probably the best day of tennis I have ever experienced.  Got to sit in third row of stadium and see the amazing Fed and Rafa matches as well as the late night Sharapova and Nole matches.  My kids got autographs of Rafa too!  I'll look through my photos and upload any that might be interesting soon.

Just saw Djoko go down to Delpo from an online stream.  I don't know what was going on with Djoko, but, he just didn't play up to his usual level.  Delpo was bent over several times during the match but somehow kept coming back strong and finished with a blistering ace out wide.  Heckofa match.

It certainly was, and I was totally surprised seeing how DP had Rafa on the ropes too until he just got too tired.  DP was one of the few players that we didn't get a chance to watch in IW.  On Wednesday though, it was unreal.  We had low tickets in Stadium 1 and we saw:  Fed v Stan, Rafa v Gulbis, and Nole v Querrey.  This day was epic, and then Thursday rolls around and there is practically no tennis.  Two of the women's quarters were cancelled due to injuries and everyone out at the grounds was disappointed.

Here's a group of my photos:
