Hey old dudes, I just want to announce that Martin created a new group dedicated to players over 50.
http://tennisopolis.com/group/tennis-over-50
In the new group, you can share and discuss ideas like:
How to win the smart way.
How to stay healthy.
How to deal with young opponents.
Ways to improve your strategy.
How to recruit 20-something doubles partners. :-)
No really, come represent and join in the fun:

Just getting started in Tennis at age 56 and looking for a partner of equal skills. Very athletic all my life baseball, football, alot of basketball, running years ago no longer, tread mill 4 days week, but a novice when it comes to tennis. I would say I have a few months under my belt against a wall. Need to start playing to begin learning the game. How does one locate a partner?
Rich
Do yourself a big favor, find a qualified coach. The best coaches generally get the best students ie: the ones who coach the top ranked juniors in your area - but not always. You have to ask around, get opinions. Try out a few coaches and see which one communicates best to you. Tennis is a very highly skilled sport. It is like learning to play a musical instrument. You can spend the rest of your life trying reinvent the wheel, developing bad habits that hurt your progress, or you can find a qualified coach who will get you started in the right direction. Good luck! Enjoy the greatest game every concieved.
I have been working with several coaches, now I would like to start playing tennis. I am fortunate to be working with an x-tennis pro from Europe, we talk tennis almost every day along with instruction. So back to my initial question how does one find entry level partners?
I would recommend asking your coach(s) to match you up with players of your level.
Hi Rich! I am also entry level, working with a great coach. I live in the South Bay. Where are you located? Let's see if we can get together and play. Practice, practice, practice!!! :) Janismarla
Hey, I would love to be a part of this group. I live in the SouthBay and am a beginner but the more I play, the better I'll get. So, what's the next step? Janismarla :)
