What do tennis players/pros/beginners/fans eat for breakfast?

I woke up on my day off, which I haven’t had since before Christmas 2007, and asked myself: What do tennis players/pros/beginners/fans eat for breakfast?

So I’m here asking you to take a moment and share what your favorite breakfast combination is like. I’d appreciate suggestions, especially if you are vegetarian, because I am, and it gets interesting when I have limited time in the kitchen during weekday mornings.

Protein shakes, mango shakes, fruit, electrolyte quenchers, you suggest: thanks in advance!

Egg whites, small bowl of wholegrain cereal, piece of fruit and a quart of water. I tend to stay away from anything processed so most protein supplements are out for me. You should also talk with a nutritionist because America is very uneducated on protein intakes even for those who exercise regularly or excessively. Most of your diet should still come from carbs, you just need make sure that they are the right carbs.
That's awesome Eric, thanks for the suggestions. I should have said vegan, I do not eat any animal products, including eggs and dairy. I've found an antioxidant shake with soy milk to give me a lot of energy. which cereal do you prefer?
Oatmeal keeps me going the longest, and its pretty cheap, too. I usually keep it simple: oatmeal, water, a little salt and honey and cinnamon and a bit of flax seed thrown in. That's pretty vegan, I think. I also like good ole grits! water salt and pepper makes some mean grits all by itself, but I do go for extra sharp cheddar cheese and sometimes bacon bits in mine....neither are vegan, though.
I finally found the cereal and have tried the egg whites. I can tell you the water and fruit are mid morning,but I've already seen a change in energy level. Thank you.

PS how are ya?
Bear Naked and Kashi are my favorite national brands but most health food stores have there own as well.
Thanks, I found this description:

* Made with REAL whole grains
* Hand-crafted in small batches with REAL freeze-dried blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and hearty nuts
* Low sugar and good source of fiber
* Low glycemic index
* All-Natural, Bearly Processed and Utterly Naked Ingredients…that you can actually pronounce!
* Vegetarian and vegan friendly
* Kosher certified

amazing! i'm heading out to the store, do you find this at Whole Foods?
Whole Foods should have it. They should also have bulk I would think.
I also wanted to tell you to make sure that you check the nutritional information on your cereals. As a general rule the better for you a cereal is the more calories it has. An equal amount of good granola will often have as much as four times the calories as the same size bowl of Cheerios.
Interesting, when I used to eat pure granola I felt very low on energy. Perhaps I was loading the calories and I didn't realize it was from that.

I find the combination of a good whole grain (i.e. cooked barley, oatmeal, granola, flax seeds) and lots of fruit to be not only tasty but very filling. I'd also recommend almond milk for you since you're vegan.

So my b-fast looks like this:

One bowl
1/2 cup good cereal (mix of granola, flax, maybe some organic flakes)
1-2 cups of fruit (anything from bananas, blueberries, pears, apples, rasberries, plums, whatever's in season and looks tasty)
1 cup of almond milk
1 4 oz. handy dandy snack cup of cottage cheese (sorry, not for the vegans)
Dash of cinammon

Mix this all up and you've got a yummy breakfast. Maybe they make some sort of vegan cottage cheese supplement, because that ties it all together. And I drink a glass of water or OJ or some other good juice.

As a vegan you really have to make sure you get enough sustinence and calories out of a breakfast. What I outlined above keeps me going for about 3.5 hours, and I'm 6'0'' and 170.
Here's to more days off and interesting questions!

A tall glass or two of orange juice or water, a bowl of Oat Cluster Crunch Cheerios, a Jimmy Dean sausage and egg muffin (MMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm), bacon, waffles.., pancakes, cinnamon roll/bun.

It's usually just the drink plus one or two of the foodstuffs.
Normally onweekdays, I have a big bowl of cereal. Normally raisin bran or cherrios or something like that. On weekends, I'll have a big ol' breakfast burrito smothered in green chile. On game day, I still haven't figured out the best breakfast....
