2012 Wimbledon Championships a week away! Early predictions?
I love the quick turnaround from the French to Wimby. No waiting around for the players to get tuned like the longer clay court season. So let's just head into it. Who's your early picks for Wimbledon and why?
I pick this to be Federer's best chance at a slam. I doubt Djoko and Nadal are sharp, with Djoko's lack of play and Nadal's early loss to Kohli. I don't see much steam in the Murray camp so I pick Fed to win. I know he lost to Haas, but he will retool his kit and sharpen up. Look for Fed's 17th slam!
Spoilers to note: Tsonga, Raonic, Isner, Del Potro... who else?
On the women's side, I will have to go with Sharapova's roll. I don't see Azarenka "stepping it up". Will Serena lick her wounds and come back? Will Kvitova defend her title? I think otherwise. Sharapova will have the number 1 aura and will maintain it.

Despite Rafa taking the time off, I think that will actually help him. Djoko's focus seems to be elsewhere, so I agree, I don't see him defending his title. I think other dark horses would include Raonic, Isner, Del Po. That might be it though. I could see a rematch of Rafa v Fed in the finals.
On the women's side, I have to agree that Sharapova is as sharp as ever. And playing with the added Aura is only going to help. Hey perhaps Oudin should be our dark horse here (NOT). Kvitova won't defend.
You know me, gotta stay with Rafa, and getting that 12th Slam. Closing in on Fed.

Ah, Rafa is the most prepared mentally of them all. But Fed's game is best suited to grass. He just has to have his legs.

Fed may have the best game suited for grass, but dude, he just lost to Haas. Really? Haas. The old broken down dude. I don't know, he just doesn't seem to be the same. Almost a full step slower nowadays.

I knew Fed could do it! I saw Fed at Indian Wells and I thought, he can still Wimby.
