One of my coaches goes through strings way too quickly. He plays with the WIlson Pro Staff 6.1 Mid and BLX Six-One 95. He always breaks in the upper main, where the density of the string pattern is more open. He prefers Gamma TNT 17 strung at 58. This time I decided to try using power pads for additional cushioning. I also suggested he try 16 gauge. Any other advice out there?

The upper mains? Does he hit a lot of kickers up there? That Gamma TNT 17 just isn't gonna last up there. Well, I suggest a softer poly and use the TNT as a cross in 16 gauge. Kirschbaum Pro Line 2 is good. Gamma Verve has a nice feel. Or I've been using Cyber Blue 17 gauge lately.
I would go 16ga.and probably hybrid or go soft poly. If he breaks the same string or near the same spot always I would try some string savers in that location. I have same racket and full poly lasted much longer that my hybrid set up, week or so vs. a few days max. Off to string up two of mine as well.
