Tennisopolis : Tennis Social Network

Hi Mark. This discussion is directed to you and others like me who have created local groups through the Tennisopolis website. I searched the forum to see if anyone had brought up the subject in the past, and surprisingly not. My group has been meeting on public courts, and the local high school. Last week, one of my members lost his footing on the tennis court and fell. Fortunately he was not injured. Anyways, I was curious to know if liability is something we need to consider for our protection. Thanks!

Hi Dudley. Tennisopolis is a place to connect with other tennis players and fans and nothing more. If someone was to get injured, it would be their personal responsibility unless there was a defect with the court. In that case, they may have a gripe with the owner or manufacturer of the court.

I think you assume responsibility if you chose to play tennis, any injuries in the course of play, fall under assumed risk. if the court is substandard, that may fall under the provision of the facility. However, be careful because our high school that I coached at got scared, and shut down their courts to the public...
That is sad to hear Gary. This world is getting so "sue happy" that we are all losing.
