Tennisopolis : Tennis Social Network

Hey. I'm a 29 year old female looking for a tennis partner around the Lake Merritt area of Oakland. I'm not sure of my rank but I assume it's around a 3.0. I used to play in high school but then stopped for 11 years and now I've been taking tennis classes for the past 5 months. Interested in singles or doubles; matches or just hitting around. Thanks!

Hi Marjorie,
I live very close to Grand Lake Theater, and would love to hit locally. Let me know if you'd like to play at Davies on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday, or weekends afternoon or later. I don't play games well (yet!), but can rally fairly well!

Hi Barry,

I live close to the Grand Lake theater too. I'd love to play sometime. I actually haven't played at Davies yet. Is it open to the public? I can meet up weekdays after 5 or so (after work) or on weekends (Saturday's are usually good for me). I'm free tomorrow after work if you want to rally for a while.

Cheers,
Marj

Hi,
Davies is a public court, but it also charges $8/hr for singles play. It is a nice court, and worth spending on once in a while. I enjoy playing other nearby courts too, such as Bushrod, Mosswood, and Athol. If you'd like to pick a court, then we could hit tomorrow. How does 6p work for you? Here's my email for following up: spinning99@yahoo.com

Hey Marjorie,

I would be down to play on a weekday after work, like 6 or 7pm would be great. I live in SF but the timing works better to play in Oakland after work. A couple years ago I played a USTA league in NYC at 3.0, so I'm looking to hit around and have some fun!

Cool,
Brian
Hey Brian. Sounds good. When and where would you like to play? I tried out Davies on Monday which is a great place to play. Weeknights are good for me. Let me know what works well for you.

Cheers,
Marj

Hi Marjorie, saw your posting and I'm available any evening to play. I think I'm a level 3.0, but I use to play 4 times a week for 3 hrs. a day. But that was 4 years ago. Call me if you are interested in us hitting. Mary (510) 414-6986.
Hey Marjorie,

I'm brand new to this site. I live near Lake Merritt. Just getting back into the game. Not really familiar with the courts around here. We'll prob. get along--your pic is upside down & mine is sideways. My best times are weekends, Monday a.m., and Friday all day. Can play Tues. & Wed. eves. too. I'm not sure of my rank either, but I'm guessing I my game wouldn't bore you to death--I hope!

Let me know, k?

Jerry
Hey Jerry,

Sounds good. I work during the day M-F so weekends and weeknights work best for me. I have a tennis class on T and Th evenings too. So maybe Weds evenings or anytime Saturdays will work well for both of us. I do have this Fri (July 3rd) off, if you want to hit. Let me know what works well for you. Nice pic, btw.

Cheers,
Marj

Marjorie,

Thanks for getting back to me. Friday, July 3 is a distinct possibility, esp. if we can get out there sorta early. Early for me is 9:00 a.m. And then there's the question of where "there" is, Gertrude Stein notwithstanding. Got an idea about where to hit?

Thanx.

Jerry

Howdy,

I'm in Emeryville. Around 3.5 without a serve. Can get to Lake Merritt no problem!

Hello,

I am a 3.0-3.5 player and I live in Grand Lake/Piedmont area as well. I would be up for meeting in the evenings or on the weekends to rally or play a match.

Jerry and Marjorie....there are some free courts on Linda Ave a few blocks off of Grand. There are only two, and there are no lights, but they are usually open. Let me know if either of you guys can't make your meet-up this Friday , and I can sub in. (or if your down with Canadian/Australian tennis we cant meet up for a threesome. )

If anyone else wants to hit or play, let me know. I don't mind going to Davies, but I think you have to reserve a court. (I also prefer free to pay, but it is a nice court and I don't mind supporting it occasionally.)

Hi All,
I am also around a 3.0 player and live on Lake Merritt. Best times for me are Saturday afternoon (except this Saturday I am open all day) and Sundays or Monday evenings.
