US Open Approved for $500M Expansion

The U.S. Tennis Association bought the support of many outraged park advocates with a $10 million donation to Queens’ flagship park - enough to grease the wheels for a nearly unanimous approval of its expansion plan by the City Council Wednesday.

The 47-1 vote will allow the USTA to build new tennis stadiums on two-thirds of an acre in Flushing Meadows-Corona…

12 Months Post Herniation Back To Hitting Clean Winners

Looks like. I am recovered from my back problem although I still do many core workouts to keep extra fit. Playing again with no pain. Life is good again. I could not imagine never hitting a tennis ball again. I do prefer clay though as it is less demanding on your back and body overall. Or is it? Since the points last longer, less winners you are hitting more balls. So, you start getting tennis elbow or tendinitis there.Ugghhh. Just keep lifting some weights and exercise to keep playing.…

Citi Open Quarterfinal Preview

Today is quarterfinal day at the Citi Open in College Park, Maryland. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 8th seeds all survived early rounds and are ready to battle their opponents on the other side of the net and the heat. 7 US Men into the Main draw of the 2011 US OPen so realistically what are our chances this year?

Well under 10% of the draw at the US OPEN this year will be American players.  Underrepresented for a country with free tennis courts in every city and tennis readily available everywhere.  With 7 US men directly into the draw for the 2011 US OPEN we are looking toward Mardy Fish(no.9) andAndy Roddick(no.10) to make headlines.  Mardy has not won any titles this year but made some… Continue

How Absurd is the title and title sponsor of the Hamburg Tennis tournament this week -'bet-at-home-open"

I am conflicted regarding this tournament that is being held in Hamburg this week.  Tennis betting or sports betting in general is ILLEGAL in the United States, but an ATP tournament in Germany is underwritten by an online sports betting company from Austria?  First off I do not gamble on tennis or any sport so I find it a little disturbing that we are sending such conflicting signals to our children.  Is it not true that the prize money comes from the sponsors and the sponsor is an online…
