"I teach private lessons, and also taught high school tennis. The problems you seem to be mentioning have a lot to do with your instructor. From what you describe your problem to be, your instructor is just guessing and doesn't know much about…"

Random things about me (hobbies, occupation, tennis history, favorite band, etc.):
I have next to no experience playing tennis but I'd really love to learn! A friend is informally teaching me about once or twice a month, but I could definitely use more practice so I can start "loosening" up enough to start actually controlling where the ball goes. If pressed, I'm probably a 2.0-2.5.

Would like to play against other beginners like myself so I don't feel too bad about my moon balls - unless you're game enough to try and hit them anyway. ^_~` The bottom line is that I just want to play more, because you can't get better if you're not practicing!
My tennis skill (please check your NTRP if you know it):
Just started., What's NTRP?, Don't know my what my rating is.
On the court, I am a:
singles player, one-hander, beginner, moon baller, gracious loser
