sonalities. When I was a junior, I remember playing matches against many different athletes, some football players would play tennis in the spring, so I played against all different kinds of athletes, who clogged up the system. And some were good enough to beat me, just because they were gifted athletes. Now, everything is so specialized and the players of the late 1990's to current are boring and dont draw on the mainstream like Jimmy Connors did for the U.S in the 70's -80's. To sum it up, tennis, here in the states just isnt as popular as football, or golf or boxing or any other sport... Heck, soccer is probably more popular....…
odays game you have to be beyond the abilities of past players.

I think Kuerten, Edberg, Gasquet, Laver on the one hander. Fed's backhand isn't as good as theirs.
Sampras on the serve for sure. CoachV - William Vazquez said:
Federer and Nadal. is there anyone else that's important?

denly we have a lot of women, out of no where. The men will come.
The other important factor that we need to keep in mind is that tennis has become global. Everyone has similar opportunities. There is an international junior tournament every week somewhere in the world. Every coach can have access to the latest information on coaching through the internet and all this has leveled the playing field. There is much more competition and even the smallest countries have one or two decent players. Therefor the US will probably never dominate the way they used to. Having said that, the US is still one of the countries with the best opportunities for players and therefore should always have top players.
I am sure top men will emerge soon! …
