Awesome release, the Best of Oscar Modern Tennis Methodology 2 hr DVD. Bring your game to a whole new level. Go to www.tennisteacher.com
I play a Yonex RD Ti 80 ....good flex (around 60) and great for topspin groundies. I have six of them, three of the old paint scheme and three of the new. They are all in various states of modifications with varying weights and placements of lead tape at different locations. I break strings a lot, so most of them are strung with a kevlar/hybrid main.....tensions are between 49-55 lbs on these mid plus frames. For Doubles, I have three Prince Longbody Thundersticks, left stock. Helps with the volleys....They are all strung with Gamma Gut 2 @ approx 58-60 lbs. These rackets are oversize. I still will break out a retro stick now and again for funsies, today it was a PK Silver Ace/Ceramic : )
I am loving the IG Prestige Pro, but honestly, I still may even love the Pro Tour 630 even more.
I don't know, Yonex just doesn't have a gradually increasing range of spin like a Head Prestige Pro does. I want to be able to control the output of spin rather than it come out bloopy/loopy all of a sudden.
I dont really understand, yes it flattens out but like all Yonex it hits big loopy spin.
How you getting on with the IG ?
Ah, I didn't really get it on with the Vcore 95. It hits too flat for me...
oh no the racketaholic bug has hit home again.........
Yonex Vcore 95D.................
Ive been waiting for this stick to come my way for about 6 months now. I have always liked older Yonex mids but recent iterations have felt far too stiff. I recently played with a pro stock Yonex, Joachim Johanssen's RDX500mid. The spec was just out but I could get one set of shear joy in, a 1hbh dream. Something about the headshape and the short throat just makes these sticks so stable.
Anyways, thhe 95D has found its way to me. My Legends have been doin the business but I lack a little confidence on my 1hbh, I think its to do with the it having a rounder, bigger head than Im used to. Hard volleys when static at the net can twist also. Other than that the bat is so good.
Ive had three outings with the Yonex now and have tweaked the spec and lead placement, in particular to get that fh ease I have with the Becker Legend. Well Ive got there and Im not missing any aspect of the Becker other than its amazing and I mean amazing manouverability. What I have got is my bh back and Im drilling winners, often running around my fh ha!! Other than serve its my main shot and I feel safe on either side again. Its not that the Becker was bad its just that the Yonex is so so so good.
Wawrinka is my fave player so I feel a little like a starry eyed Nadal fan brandishing his APD......Ive even gone for the exposed leather look,,,,
Yeah, the PB 10 mid I was serving outrageous serves and inputting very little to get max out of my groundies. I think it was that really light hoop which seemed to zip balls, like a pulsing catapult.
Gonna try spacing my two strips of lead on the handle, maybe add one more strip and lay down three strips one layer each. I do think it does amplify my radial deviation wrist shots a little too much.
Well, I'm a placement server that hits around 95-105 mph. My partner told me I was hitting around 110 but I want to be conservative in my estimation. I try to model my backhand on Gasquet and forehand like Djokovic nowadays, so I can have finishing capability. But I will come to serve and volley maybe 1 out of 4 points. I have real good hands with drop shots and angle it around, half volley without looking at the ball sort of thing.
Yeah, the fh volley can be a pest in keeping it compact. But I like how Edberg hits his drive fh volley. It's like he uses a slot and tilts it about 10 degrees and zips it through the slot for 4-6 inches. I like it because I can hit the ones close to my body with authority.
I don't know why I find I gotta put lead at the three locations like that, but it seems to work the best. I don't like the lead at the buttcap or above it slightly under the grip. Something to the Cauthen method.
PB 10 mid is great, but I don't get as sharp a slice backhand as the Prestige Mid. It's discontinued already and I tried the Becker London Tour and hate the handle shape.
