If you have a choice between playing singles, or doubles. Which would you chose? Assume that the doubles players are as competitive as you!

The older I get the more I prefer doubles.  But not because I can't play singles but because the game is more social for me than previously. I teach high performance juniors so I have to be able to play singles.  I still play a number of tournaments each year but only singles. Yet, at the end of the day, I seem to have had more fun (whatever the reason) after playing a competitive doubles match.

I agree. I enjoy doubles more as well, for many of the same reasons. I enjoy the fact that doubles is faster than singles, and you need to be in each and every point. It also needs great chemistry between partners, which makes it that much more fun.
dubs..but learning how to play singles!!!

Kind of mixed feelings on this one.  I love singles for the pure gladiator feel of the competition.  It is you against your competitor.  No one else.  No else to blame.  Doubles is tons faster, points are faster, and things seem to be more on reflex than strategy, so that makes it fun too.  Like everyone else, doubles does seem to be the more relaxing and social version.  I like them both.
Doubles because I am way better at it. I have won 5 open doubles titles and beaten the top couple players from both davis and sac state to do so. I couldn't carry their bags on a singles court though
I like singles for the 1 on 1 battle and the exercise.  I like doubles for the team feeling.  However, I prefer singles so I have nobody to blame but myself.  In doubles, I feel bad if I make an error, and I don't like it if my teammate makes the error.  So, singles for me.  :)
So this being discussed, any of ya'll going to try to find a mixed partner and make a run at the U.S. Open tournament that was just recently announced?
That would be very interesting to do. I used to play doubles against the 4.5 #1 seeded mixed doubles in Orange County, CA.
