Tennisopolis : Tennis Social Network

Have you noticed?  We just updated the Tennisopolis header to include Oscar Wegner, proponent of modern tennis instruction.  If you have not heard of Oscar, you can learn more on his Tennisopolis profile or his site tennisteacher.com.

It was a lot of fun having Myiesha on the header and we thank her for it!  As you may know, we'll be switching out the featured members in this spot from time to time.  So far we've had:

Federer

Ivanovic

Myiesha

Oscar

Am I forgetting one or two?

I saw Oscar teaching at Griffith's Park in Los Angeles. Seems real nice. I didn't say hi to him, but saw how he was teaching. The man is credited with teaching Gustavo Kuerten his lethal backhand.

I also met one of his older students through this site and saw what he mentioned on the forehand through him. The tip was to pull the racquet head back in after contact.

The pic you got up there shows him with an Eastern grip forehand. I'm surprised he's not using semiwestern or extreme Eastern!

But I definitely see the "pull the racquet head back" trick being employed in that picture.

That's a good trick. Creates more spin by the pulling action, dragging the strings across harder.
