The Babolat Y Oversize Series has been pushed as an obsession.

Racquet companies love to use gimmicks to promote their racquets, but in the end, the quality of the racquet often does not come close to all the promises.

With the Babolat Y series though, it's clear these racquets have been carefully constructed with the smaller, club or recreational player in mind.

Crazy string patterns, holes all over the racquet, and triangular frames are what have made oversizes stand out before.

Now, Babolat is using actual quality and performance in order to sell its new oversize frames.

We'll have all of these in stock in a few days!!

I just thought I'd share the new Bablolat Users Group here on Tennisopolis:

For all you Babolat fans, join that to represent.
I really like the Y Series. I have tennis elbow and it works great with it. You can check out all of the info on these rackets at Babolat Obsession That is where I got all the info on mine. I really like the extra features like the Side Drivers, Dual Graphite Construction, Cellular Grommet System, and the Smart Grip (this is my fav feature) These are great rackets...Great post!
who would want to pay $200 + for a racket. there are comparable rackets at a lower price point. i'm not trying to be an expert but in this day and age when money is somewhat tight. consumers are looking for value. i know there will be buyers there but i hope they are thinking twice before they shell out that much $$$.
mayor, would you spend $200 on a racket only to find out it will drop to half within 12 months?
Jun, we find plenty of people wanting to buy this racquet, and unlike other companies, Babolat NEVER drops prices on racquets.

I don't know about comparable racquets. - Maybe a Wilson K Three or K Four... but if you go and get a big Head Ti, Crossbow or Prince SP Platinum, you'll notice a big difference.

The Y series is by far, the most solid, controlled oversize I've ever hit with... It doesn't get pushed around by the ball on off-centered hits, and there is like NO risk of tennis elbow.

Check 'em out - I just posted them!

Thanks :)
don't get me wrong. there are people that will buy that racket. if babolat doesn't over-produce yes the demand will be there. and the price will stay where they want it. but sorry i personally don't use babolat.

I'm not the biggest Babolat fan, and I'm not a club player, but if I were a club player, I'd use this racquet.

For player's racquets, Head and Wilson are the way to go, but I bet your grandma would love the Babolat Y! - Very easy for someone a little older and a little smaller.
TennisZone - would be interested to hear your thoughts on Prince EXO3 Silver 118 and the Prince EXO3 Red - in fact, would there be an opportunity to share images and specs with tennisopolis users? - hard to discuss holes in the racquet without mentioning the pioneer in this space and O3 technology.

As for player frames mentioned above - it would be beneficial to players to provide information on the new EXO3 Graphite (93 and 100) and EXO3 Rebel (95 and Team 95) as well - true player frames in player specs. would love your thoughts on these frames. maybe even some pics?

thanks.
In my opinion the Y Series could definitively be an option for casual players and older players. Maybe to prevent or avoid the tennis elbow. Ive tried a few light rackets, including Babolat. I literally had to flog the ball on the opposite side :) to reach former (usually with heavier rackets) ballspeed.
Question: Is the Y for a junior tournament player? My son uses the Babolat aeropro with 4 1/8 grip. I think his natural grip should be 4 0/8 but 4 1/8 is the smallest they make.

This is a great racket for tennis elbow and I hear it is great for older players. I can tell that it is definitely easier on the elbow that others I have played with.
anyone else have the Babolat Y series racket? I am curious what everyone else thinks of it
There are plenty of rackets out there for much less money. These oversizes superlight rackets are pretty much the same. Very light with a lot of power if you have a small swing. If you dont then you are more likely to get tennis elbow. 9ounce in my opinion should only be touched by under 5's and over 90's!
The heavier racket the better, more control more power, go as heavy as you can.
Im 38yrs, 190cm and 78kilos my racket weighs in the region of 13ounces (370g) I played for 4 hours yesterday and its my legs that are hurting not my arm. I understand that not all people are as fit as I am but 4 ounce difference in racket is extreme.
The modern day manufacturers want to sell light oversized HH rackets to the public and we a getting suckered! Everyone would play better if they try a heavier midsize racket. 30yrs ago people had no problems weilding 16ounce wooden rackets. Mine doesnt feel heavy as its 9pts HL.
Dont be convinced that these rackets will help your game unless you've got a tiny swing then ok go get yourself a racket for half the price!
