Bodo of tennis.com writes, "Djokovic was unable to dictate on many occasions for any number of reasons, mostly having to do with the rule about keeping the ball within or on the lines. If he plays at a similar level in his future meetings with Nadal, the result is likely to be the same. Yet we also saw many examples of the shot combinations that allow Djokovic to push Nadal around and off the court, which must continue to be an area of concern for Nadal."

I would agree that to beat Nadal, you've got to go for the miraculous shot, not just the percentage shot. You've got to either drive him hard off the clay, as did Soderling, or you've got to spread him left and right and forwards, as Djoko did last year. But now, we have a Nadal aware of all these possibilities and is moving and serving well. What is your strategy to beat Nadal on clay, if you were a tour player?

Absolutely. Nadal has improved from the year he lost to Soderling. He has a better serve, volley, and deeper forehand.

Not just Rafa, everyone I know has improved from that year 2009. That's what makes tennis great!

Yes but what fueled Soderling was his Dark-Side of the Force............ Hatred

now that he feels satisfied with completing his revenge he is done and now has to find a new reason to win.

Man, he was like Darth Vader beating up on Luke in that match. All these traps ahead of time and Luke just gets whomped on. lol

There is'nt any real way to beat the king, but I'll try to take a crack at it. First you have to have an amazing day. Second the clay has to be a fast court, like in Madrid. Third, his knees need to be hurting him, or massive break-up in his life needs to happen. So it seems to me two out three only happen almost never so it doesn't look like all three will happen at once. So it doesn't look good Tim.

Haha! Xisca break up with Nadal will do it. That surely will. Women, get Nadal before he's hitched up forever!

Nadal Has a Reason to win the French every time.... you just need a Reason stronger than Nadal's that pulls you through to win. that mental focus is what is needed most.... knowing and desire!  Even the reason doesn't have to be Right or Wrong it just has to Drive you! - CoachV

Desire! That is definitely the key thing. You got do it like you're yanking a toy car from the clingiest kid on the block. No matter how much this kid loves this toy car, you're gonna yank it away from him. And we all know that's wrong! lol

Borg in his prime, and wood racquets!

Borg vs. Nadal? Would be very interesting. But it would have to be Nadal with wood also, which would be a certain blowout in Borg's favor. Nadal's forehand is impossible to create with the flex of wood racquets.

Now if you transported Borg to today, and gave him a span of three years to adjust to today's technology, then that would be a highly interesting match. Who knows what would happen?
