From the What-Took-Them-So-Long files, the US Open has just announced that they will be adding a roof to Arthur Ashe Stadium, possibly as early as 2016. This will be the last major tournament to obtain a roof.
I wonder if there is anything coincidental about the timing of this announcement, just a couple of weeks after getting city approval to expand the facility's site.

Well, red tape has its place in the U.S.! hehe
It's pure politics. If they announced the roof before asking for more land, their opponents would be able to say, "hey, you don't need more land, you will be able to have more matches in Ashe!." It is all about strategy. Glad to see that the USO is getting bigger and stronger! Now, I just need to start planning my trip there.
