Permalink Reply by Mike Dong on December 16, 2010 at 1:02pm This is exactly where the problem starts. So you get on the court after reading this and rate yourself at 4.0 to find yourself playing a person who is USTA computer rated at 4.0. There is a nothing more frustrating than trying to keep up with someone who is just toying with you all over the court, getting laughs at your expense. And the same for the guy who thought he was going to get a good competitive match, who is playing down just to get some decent rallies.

Permalink Reply by Decker on December 16, 2010 at 1:21pm This is great for members to understand where they fit on the scale. I have played all of my life and have found that the ratings are very helpful if one is honest with their rating. I have played 5.5 players that were actually 4.0...It is disheartening when you schedule a match and the player is not as good as you hoped. A few months ago I was 5.5 only because I had not played in a couple of years. Now that I am playing a few times a week, I am ready for 2011 Nationals...I feel strong...and consistent....This is a good site for all players...it has taken a few matches, but I am now finding players who are actually 6.0 or better. Thanks Tennisopolis...Dr.D

Permalink Reply by Bart Wallace on December 16, 2010 at 8:29pm One really needs to compete against top ranked ntrp players in various divisions, to find out where they really stand. ultimately by competing in usta tournaments.
Most top ranked 4.5, or even 4.0 tournament players would smoke every psuedo ntrp numbered player or league player of any rating..
you earn your real stripes in tournaments.....
