Ok, this was something I mentioned to some of the members in the group who I don't get the chance to play together at the drop-ins. I figured it to be like a Friday Nite Poker with the boys and girls, for friendship, trash talking and fun. It's not complicated, $5 get's you in the main draw and a can of balls. Minimum of 4 players meet to play singles or doubles, switching opponents and/or partners after each 30 min set, 90 minutes total. The player with the best record over 3, 30 minute sets gets the pot of $20 bucks. He or she has the option to buy dinner for their group at Subway, or go for Ascona pizza, cold beers and bragging rights. You also have the option to take the money and run. To kick this off, Ryan, Roland, Will and myself, TVTA coaches will try this format. I'm up for starting second group if first four players are available this Friday 630 at DVHS.

Hmmm, I know Charles said he was going to play, Roland confirmed via email earlier, and I can ask Yilmas if he is available.
Dudley, we have our 8th!  Yilmas will be joining us tomorrow night.  Should be fun, I'm looking forward to it.  I'll see ya'll tomorrow night 6:30 at Dougherty High.
Great, we have confirmed 8 for the first Friday Night shoot out for 9/16. Charles, Gladys, Mike Ryan, Roland, Will, Yilmaz and myself. I will be emailing you with details. This will be a lot fun.

Like this idea, will join sometime.

I am sort of average player, howz the group?

thanks

Hi Rakish, that would be great if you can join us. Tonight most of the group were above 3.5. It doesn't matter what level you are, since you will get to team with others.

Thanks to the 8 for playing in our first Friday Night Tennis Shootout. That was fun. I thought it worked out really well, we all got to play 3 sets of doubles with a different partner. I did like the no ad scoring. Let me know what you think overall so it can be improved next time.

Congratulations to Yilmaz, who was in the Ace group with Ryan, Roland and Will. He won all 3 of his sets. There was also a 3 way tie in the King group between Charles, Mike and Dudley with two set wins each. Mike and Dudley had the best set score of 6-1, but Mike had a better secondary set of 6-2 to Dudley's 6-3. Congratulations to Mike. The winners each won a pot of $20 each. Most of the group went to Ascona's so I want to hear if the beer and pizza is good. We can make that or the Fat Cactus our watering hole for future Shootouts. I will be sure to join the group next time for some bragging and trash talk.

Have a great weekend.
