Know any decent clay courts with lights around the area?  Northbrook or Highland Park?    Fees or reservation required for use of the courts?  Just learned that the Mixed Dubs Team Tennis for NSTF are mostly on clay and looking to practice on the surface.

Sunset Woods Park on sunset Road and Central in Highland Park.  Three hard and three clay courts.  Public courts. Well maintained.   Nice people play there.

Thanks Topspyn, i couldn't tell from google sat map if the courts has lights?  Am and I will check that out tomorrow evening around 7pm (if it's not raining), maybe we'll see you there...?

There are lights on the courts until 10.
great!
This maybe a little further but there are some har-tru ones on Lakeshore drive around the Belmont/Sheridan exit. If I recall correctly $10/hr reservation but the details are second hand information from I a reliable source I coach.

Thanks DS, them courts are tough for me to get to from where we coming from on a weeknight.

by the way, we gonna see you Sun AM CPD?  Heard JP's got another sick team this summer with LGonz.

:-)

Haha, I was thinking he has the initials correctly! I may not play as much as I would like to someone has to pay the bills and keep the shop open but absolutely CPDT, we always have surprises and amongst them some eye candy so that it stays interesting. All for good tennis right?!
@ D - eye candy is right... not a bad tennis player too.  must have taken after big brother.  the player she beat in singles from our team last summer is still a laughing stock up until today.  another teammate sneaked in a skirt in his bag, funny as heck.  all for good tennis definitely.

Wood Oaks Park in Northbrook, on Sanders just south of Dundee.  About a month ago the clay courts were still closed, assumedly because of all the rain.  Public courts, pretty well-maintained.  No lights though.

As for Euro red clay, I don't know of any in the area.  But I'd love to play on it sometime.

Thanks Angie.  will check out wood oaks.

I forgot about the clay courts on Sanders.  Angie is correct, no lights.  The Sunset Woods Courts were open when we went yesterday early evening.  But it was way too cold to hit very long, although other people were on the courts.  Just more brave I guess. I hit on red clay in Pompano Beach Florida and thought it was great. Unfortunately, I was wearing all white. Will not make that mistake again.  I wish there were more tournaments on clay in this area.

sounds like it's going to be challenging to get a court at Sunset Woods around 7pm once the weather turns nice.
