Need advice from the tennis jedi's here. :-)  I've been told on a number of occassion that it's insane not to try a polyester set-up.  With the long list of poly's out there and seemingly new ones coming out every week - help a fellow out by saving a few $$ and sharing what you've tried and what has worked for you.

My current setup: Tecnifibre Tfight 325 (non-VO2 that flexes at 59) 18/20 string pattern strung with X-1 Biphase 17 gauge 55lbs (15% prestretched)

just realized i was still holding my old yonex rdti-50's in my profile pic.  oops.  i still have em but like the denser string pattern of the tfight. more control, less string movement.
I've used Big Bangers which I loved at first but started to break them too often.  At first, I was told that they last longer but that wasn't the case with me.  I'm currently using RPM Blast because it gives me a little added spin to the ball.  These poly's aren't cheap especially if you play a lot and pop them often.  I've tried Black Code which is a less expensive poly and lasts a little longer than most poly's.  It's mostly a personal preference really.
You are right. Everyone should at least try poly string, but my experience with them is they feel too stiff, and I lose some control. The durability in most of them is good however, but i still prefer multifiliment string for feel and power. I demo just about every new string that comes out , and these are my recommendations for poly strings. Tecnifibre X-code, black code, red code. Prince beast xp, Ashaway monogut, and Babolat duralast, r.p.m blast. Some of my favorite multi fil strings are Prince premier 16, and prince multilil. Babolat xcel power. If you are a string breaker you should get more hitting time with poly, but I break just about every string I try in under 6-8 hours court time, so I prefer to use strings that play better for me which are the multifil.

thanks for the great advise AL.  I'm currently stuck on the tecnifibre x-1 biphase strings 55lbs, 15% prestretched on a tfight 325 18/20 string pattern.  i'm a lefty too so 80% of the time i break the crosses more than the mains.  with your experience with multi's, is there another string set out there i should try out which lasts longer than the x1's but plays the same?

Does being a lefty have anything to do with breaking the X's? I have probably broken at least 1500 sets of string over 35 years and i can only remember breaking the X's maybe a couple times. I don't play very competetive anymore and don't break as many as i used to, but I change mine out at least every 5th time i play, because they look like they are going to break. I only play with two frames now, so I don't wait for them to break anymore + i don't hit as hard either. The strings you are using are very nice tennis strings, I use the Biphase on my squash racquet and love them, but I destroy them on my tennis racquet because of the topspin. The Prince Premier 16 and multifil 16 are nice, but i prefer 17 gauge strings most of the time.
