Tennisopolis : Tennis Social Network

Hi! I am a huge tennis fan from Vancouver,Canada! HUGE TENNIS FAN! Actually, some friends say I am completely addicted!  I completely disappear when a Major is on and have travelled to two tournaments (Toronto, Montreal) and going to make it 3 for next months Indian Wells BNP Paribas.  I am travelling solo and hoping to meet up with some other tennis lovers and maybe attend some matches together or meet up for a game.  I just booked my fligths yesterday and trying to find a hotel and haven't bought my tickets yet.  Anyone looking for a companion to attend some matches? I am a beginner player but would also love to play while in Palm Springs being that in the Winter I am stuck playing indoors in Vancouver- darn rain!  Let me know if anyone is interested! Cheers!  Brea

I'm definately going to the tourney this year! I live like 10 minutes from Indian Wells!
Need a buddy to watch a match? Any advice on where to stay?
Hi Brea,
We have 3 players ranging from beginners to intermediates and need a fourth. We'll be at the tournament from 3/12 -3/14 and are taking private lessons from an instructor if you're interested.

Hi Erin!
Yes- I am so lucky to live in Vancouver! It is beautiful. Did you watch any of the Olympics? It was incredible and didnt do this little city of mine justice. But if I didn't own a business here I would be living in California. I love the sunshine all year round and the palm trees...I cannot wait to come for some r+r!

I'd love to make a new friend and watch a match or matches together! And play! How about Thursday evening match or Friday? I plan to attend all matches for Thursday/Friday/Saturday and Sunday. So just let me know which you are wanting to attend. We could just meet at the gate and buy tickets upon arrival. I heard thats the best thing to do?
Also, do you have a place in mind to play some tennis? I am just trying to decide where to stay as I haven't booked my reservations. Any suggestions?

Hi Brea

I'm planning on going to the tourney too, though I haven't bought any tickets. Be happy to go with and also play. It's pretty cool that you've been travelling around following tournaments. And you're from the best city in the world...
HI David! That sounds amazing but I don't fly in until Thursday March 18th. :( Next year I plan to come for the entire tournament! What about a game while I am there? I am going to be in town from Thursday to Tuesday. I haven't booked my hotel yet but am working on that!

Hi Brea -

I didn't get from your email that you are coming NEXT weekend, sorry if I made no sense whatsoever. I was a little surprise you were looking for a place on 36 hours short notice, but now it makes sense.
BTW I have heard the easiest place to get rooms is in Indio, but it's still a very tight market. If there is something available, I suggest you take it. There are a few larger resorts out there: maybe check?

I always send people to the casinos, too, because they are reasonable and pretty damn nice. The drive from, say, hot water casino, is not that great but doable. Maybe avoid traffic and check Spotlight 29, just off 10, east of Indian Wells?

Anyway, Cheers to you all, tuning in on the thread! Look out for the BNP Paribas "Decompression Round Robin" on the 27th or the 28th - I'm confirming the date tomorrow and will send off the invites and sign-up!

James
